Title: Unidentified Network Connection
Post by: Gorion on October 13, 2014, 09:35:13 AM
A device driver failed to install (incompatible), and left an orphan network connection which I cannot find a way to remove.  Apparently it's in use so it cannot be deleted.

Is there a way to force delete it?  I have tried locating it via registry, but I couldn't find it, also tried doing it via merge or delete network locations, but since its in use, it cannot be removed.

Tried this?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/147797

You might also want to try booting into Safe Mode to remove the misbehaving connection.

Yeah, those didn't work.

Managed to find the culprit: Virtual box.  Uninstalled it and all my network adapters, and re-installed Ethernet drivers.

Problem solved.  It was strange, as it wasn't showing up as a proper adapter neither..
