Arena Commander Control update - it's well worth a watch to help you through the learning curve.
It says this video is private when I try to play it?
I took the liberty of fixing the You Tube link in the OP
Make sure you turn off/leave off Comstag most of the time and only use 'gimble lock' and or 'drag to move' when your right behind your enemy and close to them. I use mostly gimbled lock, I think drag to move will be better for strafing larger ships when they enter the game. These finishing moves are good for quickly getting a lot of fire onto a target your chasing down so as to kill it. If the enemy is fully mobile these features make it near impossible for me to get weapons onto them. (Mouse and keyboard user). I'm quite looking forward to trying this out on all your Constellation and Freelancer drives in Arena Commander. RSI have spent a lot of time building damage models for these big expensive boats so I'm happy help you all see what your ship looks like when they fall to pieces around you :boxing:
I came across this series of YouTube videos which appear to contain some good tips in them...

It turns out that the above videos are actually part of a larger series that make up what looks like a comprehensive training course which I shall be working my way through to try and improve my flying skills (they need it!).
this course can be found here:

What I intend doing, Sneaky, is to manually map the essential controls to the X52Pro keys using the key layout picture and SCJMapper (https://github.com/SCToolsfactory/SCJMapper-V2/releases).

These look great. I'm going to try to run through these videos and tryout some of the flight machanics tomorrow night. If anyone wishes to join me I'll be on around 7 uk time. It's always easier to train with others. :)
This video could be the start of a good series too:
