I've been playing about with the homepage style and there is currently a coding error on it (not down to me), we'll fix it in due course.
The main thing I changed were:
- 2 news columns not one
- Adding game images to every post
I hope you'll agree that bar the coding error (which we should be able to fix), it looks a fair bit nicer with 2 news columns and graphics attached. So, if we have an article to post in the future, can we make sure we use a game graphic (just us an existing one if one exists, or aim for something in the 320x320 size please).
The other thing to request is that we try to avoid posting big text size changes in articles, it just makes the home page look messy & disjointed. The heading is highlighted, the graphic gives it interest and the text should be good enough on its own!
We'll need to sort a LAN graphic, so I used the skull in the mean time.
I agree, 2 columns is much easier on the eye.
I've been steam-messaged by one of our latest CS:GO recruits, asking if there's anywhere on the forum where he can see the status of Boomer so he knows if people are on.
It would be handy for those people who, like me, can't see the server status in steam (clicking 'view server info' has never worked for me in CS:GO)
I said I'd ask, so here's me asking.
That's probably something Whitey might be able to add as a webpage from the server control page? Whether we use a widget or not is tricky as they break every time VB is updated.

I have to say it's a place I only ever visit to link to the forums. I think a homepage is fine for presenting the community to the casual visitors so unless there's a source of interest for members I see a homepage as a PR exercise, make it look as pro as possible to attract people to the forums and join.
