cbble is a good idea , and maybe a few others through a vote or somthing, voting system on server ?
Im with Slow on the scoutsknivez I like it ! but isnt for TCS
Storm i think would be good for TCS aswell as torn, good maps which arnt given a chance. As they provide alot of options with both open and closed areas of play.

steelys revenge is a pearla its a large ish dust map as is dust 2002 which is another bigish dust map.........ang on me promoting dust maps they must be good :)
I've got "Sierra Mist" running on my server just now. The map is a big one and you can get it here (http://www.sutherlandweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/dmw/sierramist.zip). Poss too big for us and maybe not suited to TCS but worth a play - you can even drive an APC :D
Just extract to your cstrike folder.
TVM ill give it a go later ...... :D
My 2-cents (sorry, i'm USA - is it pounds? )....
The best TCS maps I've seen were, believe it or not, the VIP maps.. Those required an immense amount of teamwork from the CT side, and the Ts had to do a bit as well. Now, i've seen oil-rig, and despise it  . On the other hand, tundra was excellent. (1.5)
Other good ones I enjoyed over on TG (1.5 also): cs_havana, cs_boxoffice, cs_backalley, cs_estate (!!) (i think; might have been highsociety), italy & italia, monastery, rio!(naturally), shogun (naturally), thunder (sort of), winternights (sort of). The list just goes on & on - I've forgotten the names of some of my favorites, I'll have to just load them up to find the ones I really liked!
The question I have is: is it possible to convert/play 1.5 maps into 1.6?
btw: I'll also add, you guys are a *great* :D bunch of guys to play with/against; even though my death rate is exceedingly high normally  (I blame the 140 ping for that), I really don't care - it's the group I'm playing with that makes it worthwhile. :dribble:
QuoteOn the other hand, tundra was excellent. (1.5)
i agree but i have not played it in 1.6 .......wonder if its possible to all buy shields and and turtle the v.i.p :dribble: i would love to see it done :lmfao:
Played oilrig not too long ago and its a good map if the coms between the teams is good. The reason i put scoutknives as a suggestion is that it is very good for training to get better with the scout, i go on publics to play on this map but i hate publics because of the cheaters.
We played oilrig on CoFR and we succesfully escaped the VIP several times. Then that PTB thing started switching the people that had the best communicationskills and we lost after that.
For de estate, I hate it, when T want they can all go upstairs and then take anyway going up the stairs.
And JAS, a few nades and you'll see CT flying around.
QuoteFor de estate, I hate it, when T want they can all go upstairs and then take anyway going up the stairs.
There are other routes to get into the top level ie the back ladder to the top floor? I do believe its a good map but i prefer the rat map version of it :D
Even when you try and get up the ladder with no sound you still have to shood the wood in the window so they know you're there.
Completely forgo about that a very hard map indeed for the cts but with the stairs if you have good comms you can have cover from both sides while moving up the stairs. I liked the map de_prodigy but that was voted off

agreed, Vegas too. the odd VIP map sounds interesting aswell (NOT oilrig tho) maybe an idea to have a "guest map" each week on MH...if you don't like it, it's only 1 map on the cycle, and it's only for 1 week... 8)
In that case I'd like to recommend de_bahrainV2, played it on a couple of servers now and its great fun.
Get it from here (http://csmaps.combatstrike.com/).

Fait point Sadako - I have seen this happen a lot.
How about bringing back de_scud or de_rock ?
I like the idea of a weekly "guest" map to stimulate a bit of discussion.
I'd like a return to the old style of voting maps on or off every three months. I can well accept that there are a lot of priorities right now, so this is only a suggestion for the future.
Maybe we can include Chimpys idea and a monthly guest map, then everythird month do the map trial and vote thing like we used to?
We should leave the match server alone obvioulsy with it hosting only match maps.
This is a nice rescue the VIPmap from what I've heard: VIPrescuingMap (http://www.cscentral.com/maps/download.banana?id=4796)
so many maps.... so little time.... no matter why u guys wanna do, i'll be here, and (as so many do), if a map comes up that I detest... i'll sit it out. cya online

Some top quality custom maps, if youre interested, are:
cs_greenhouse cs_industrywest cs_shogun_final de_karachi01 de_morningstar
any of those is well worth a look if youve got the time.
nice to see youve already got bikini in there - very playable map.
and, for a laugh: fy_rambohulk

and, for a laugh: fy_rambohulk cs_shogun_final is already on and in rotation, cs_greenhouse has been played here but is not currently in the rotation. I'll take a peek at the others. TL.
be warned: greenhouse is *very* demanding on machine & graphics card...
As is the new cs_shogun_final :( May have to take it off, it seems to lag all over the place even with only a few peeps on the map.
TL.

TL. cs_shogun_final is history <_< Replaced by the latest dMw 'Map o' the Week' de_karachi01 (http://server.counter-strike.net/maps/see_review.php?mapname=de_karachi01)

It's a nice map but there are so much angles where you can get shot from. Plus they all started downloading it from the server. Maybe a good idea to call it in a bit earlier so everyone first has the map and then play it?
Greets Pete
Why not set the server to not allow downloads?
Map lags too much anyway. shame really.
Nice map very good for sharp angels and sneaky spots shame about the lag tho weve had them on a few maps might just be from those dling them.
QuoteOriginally posted by BlueBall@Feb 15 2004, 10:55 PM Why not set the server to not allow downloads? Why??? If people are interested in playing TCS they will download the maps required. It has worked for rio, shogun, thunder, museum etc ... It isn't like we have 20 custom maps in the rotation and one download now and then is not too much to ask. :) I liked the map. It has a high complete git factor (CGF). Me gives it 9/10 CGF. ;)
However, you are always going to get the odd person that has not downloaded the map and we run the risk of a single individual spoiling it for the rest. Just my 2p.

Make sure to give a tour around new maps next time for where to go or not. If someone goes over a boundarie which he doesn't know, don't blame him. Especially if he got shot there by someone else on the same map before.
And maybe its time to actualy get rid of the old ones as the map list is rather long now......
I strongly vote for a return to the map voting system.
If we can get the http download for new maps set up I'd argue that we vote in a map rotation.
We can leave the official maps on the match server (or just the ones we match play). But at least one of the TCS servers should have a voted map rotation.
So says me :)

So says me :) Is this an outbreak of democracy I espy. Gets my vote (that is presuming we are not marched out and shot).
Yeah make those maps that we play for matches on baldrik and have many more custom maps on the mh as i like having dif maps get rather bored of playing the same ones again and again makes the game feel new again with new and interesting maps. Maybe we should have a weekly vote on which map goes out and which one comes in? But giving enough time to those to dl it so no one has to dl it from the server?
The old system was quarterly. We'd play test several for a few weeks and then have a mass vote/arguement about which ones to add and which of the existing maps should go. It meant that no one could moan about the maps as it was democratic and we got to play lots of new stuff.
I can see that it might make our servers a little less accessable but we don't run a standard map rotation as it is.
So form a crowd and wave bits of paper in the air shouting 'fraternity and liberty for all' ........and stuff.
Having the option of maps is good. Having a server full of customs is bad. N42 struggled as the map-packs became unmanageable. I'd hate for that to happen here.
The stock maps do get a little monotonous, so perhaps a vote whilst playing is the way forward, but not overly changing the rotation.
AM I right in saying that after a map vote it goes back to the first in the rotation? If so you end up never playing the end maps.

I'd hate for that to happen here. To be honest, I can't really see this being that big of a deal anymore, now that the servers have been configured for HTTP downloads. You don't have a custom map? You can now get it quick - none of the disconnect, search for the map, unzip, reconnect malarky. I for one would like to see the AMX map vote at round end re-enabled. It gives players, what is it, four options? Could the options it presents be randomised to give three standard map choices and one custom for instance? Although, even then we run the risk of still playing the same few maps (aztec/inferno/dust2) over and over and over... :)

Map votes are as fraught with danger as servers full of custom maps. It does encourage the same few maps to get played over and over. A standard map rotation is the answer, with a number of fixed standard maps that play to TCS strengths. Add to that a handful of custom maps, and I think we have the mix right.
My only issue is with the method of selection for the few custom maps.....in as much as there isn't one. As a community shouldn't we all be desciding on what the custom maps are?
Aye surely if we have say a maximum of 6 custom maps in the rotation, 4 (semi)permanent, then 2 that rotate? It could quite easily be handled by most metinx
See the power of prayer works. The Great Ones have answered us. Come let us sacrifice a Squonk in their honour [humble smilie]
right lads all i can say and i think i speak for a few here jas squonk tl fatal i think we must have catsbuthole map on rotation ...just somethin to break the manoteny*note cant spell mahogany..nm  :dribble:
another one that may be worth a look is ...de_wallmart looks really nice ..but not sure how it would play as a TCS map
Quoteright lads all i can say and i think i speak for a few here jas squonk tl fatal i think we must have catsbuthole map on rotation ...just somethin to break the manoteny*note cant spell mahogany..nm lol never will that map get on a TCS rotation ....it may be tested a few times ;)
thats a dam shame and u no it :P
Never played walmart, but I recall some N42 comments about it not being suitable for PCS style (I think).
And how could *anyone* vote constantly for dust2/inferno/??/... I mean, part of the fun of CS / dMw is playing *different* maps - even if they are standard ones in the rotation! There was one I remember, i loved it, but N42 dropped it, haven't seen it since... cs_aurora highsociety was pretty cool; monastery; thunder was fun occasionally.
dead
QuoteAnd how could *anyone* vote constantly for dust2/inferno/??/... here here these maps certainly get up my nose played to death iam affraid.........
errrr well inferno is ok ....but DUST suk AZTEC suk
Just a wee question, and not wholly on-topic:
Why are so few of the official maps in the rotation? It seems like every night we all just play the same handful of maps. I understand that not all are suited to TCS, but I miss things like cs_747 and de_prodigy, and many of the others.
