Ok i dont know much about ide cable's for hard-drives, cd drives etc but i was wondering if they only came with the 3 connectors 1 for the motherboard and 2 for hd,cdd etc. Are there any 4/5/6 connecters out there? The reason i ask is because i have 2hd and 2cdd at the moment connected and thats my limit just wanted to know if you could buy extentions etc...Ive had a look around and cant seem to find any or is there none. Sorry if it seems like a stupid question and im sure ill be told so thanks in advance...
Add more HDDs etc by adding an IDE controller (http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=16318) into a spare PCI slot, you can then add additional drives, but still only two devices per cable. Bigger, more expensive controllers give you more channels and/or RAID etc......

Before doing this you should do a thorough readthrough on forums etc about your motherboard. I bought a IDE Controller for my Asus A7N8X Deluxe and had lots of trouble before I got it working. My problem was that my system drive is a S-ATA unit and when I plugged the IDE Controller it overrided the S-ATA leading to I couldn't boot. The motherboard treats the IDE controller as a SCSI unit (an S-ATA is also considered a SCSI unit) and when the mobo looked for bootable drives it didn't find the S-ATA. I ended up having to connect my DVD-reader to the IDE controller for it to boot and I can't add any HDDs to the controller unless I install my system on a non S-ATA HDD (or ASUS comes out with a bios that corrects it). <_<

This one (http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=83203) supports up to RAID 5 on IDE. It's got 4 channels and supports hot spares and hot swapping too :)
Not bad for £77.
Already bought the x2 channel IDE Controller PCI only really need 2 extra channels for te moment plus ive got a cashflow problem with this new "saving idea" and buying 1gb of memory for my pc hehe but ill save more money next time honest! Cheers anyway
