Until the final ship list comes out, I thought this would be a nice place to discuss ship prices/wishlists and the like for the upcoming sale.
I'm about to be putting my last money into this game (read: last I have ;) ) and i'm rather hoping to gather as much information as possible.
I'm considering melting the Redeemer and adding a bit to it for the Retaliator (depending on price, and CR saying that LTI isn't that much of a 'big deal'), and i'm also having the Carrack vs Aquila debate with myself. Is anyone else having similar thoughts?
Can items purchased via melting, be gifted?
No. Once they're site credit they're account bound. Shame really.
Well, the Carrack won't be in the sale, so that's one less problem for you to ponder on right now.
Aye. I guess there is that. I was rather hoping it'd be on the sale. But alas. I've gotta wait done more for that.

I am rather interested in the discussion about ships returning and 2 new concepts!
Yeah, no LTI, just 2 years.
Thats really useful actually. From what CR has said about LTI not being a big deal. I'm not as concerned about it. Its not as if its not going to be possible to fund the insurance in game! LTI is a great want-to-have, and fantastic if you've got it. I guess I just don't see why people get so emotional about it. Possibly just me though.
They have also pointed out that the LTI only covers the base ship, if you put lots of expensive upgrades on it they are not included in the LTI.

Yep, that's been known for a while, but you will be able to buy top-up insurance for your mods afaiaa.
Here's my pov.
(Assuming insurance is ship bound)
Multiple hangars
Multiple Ships
Additional ship Cargo + modification (Mentioned before) insurance p/ship
Cost per landing
Cost on duration on landing? < any idea if they're going to do that?
Costs add up fast; unless insurance days are actual flight days/used once a ship leaves its hangar.
I've a feeling they'll either do parking costs per landing or have no fee. It would be silly otherwise. That's just speculation though.
Afaik, per landing is already planned, which are waivered if you have a hangar (paid for) on the planet.
They have already said (I think) that it will be more expensive at places where you do not own a hangar. How they will apportion it is still up in the air, but fuel, maintenance costs, hangar rental etc will all start to be outlined during Q3 I expect as they head towards a PU Alpha for Q4 2015.
Well I'm wrong no surprise. Hope you don't need to be an accountant to work everything out. I'll end up dodging bailiffs
I'd quite to see the organization (to use their spelling) hangars come into the PU. DMW could put up hangars in our favourite locations for any member to use.
Well, that would be nice.
Community funded hangars. I wonder if one could see the entire dMw fleet. Would be one hell of a massive hangar.
I think the advantage of having one LTI ship that you like a lot is it's one less to insure. Peace of mind so to speak. It might be a small amount for Insurance in game but for 6 ships it's 6x a small amount.
Apparently, these are comfirmed.
Super Hornet, Lancer MIS, m50 and Caterpillar confirmed in ATV!
I'd be interested in an SH upgrade, for when CCU are available.
The fleet could do with another Caterpillar or two!

I'm just not all that interested in the Banu. Am I wrong?
Song by CCR - Born on the Banu!
The other thing to remember here is that if you have a ship with only 6 months insurance then it might be possible to melt it and repurchase the same ship but with the anniversary sale's 2 year insurance if the price of the ship is as rumoured the same as at last year's sale.

I love the look and it happens to be a very well equipped hauler. Based on current info, I'd rather have the Banu.

I think I'm going to 'swap' my redeemer for the retaliator. Assuming that it goes on sale again. Still waiting to see what the carrack will be like. After the sale :(
Carrack will be $345, 110m long, comes with a rover and an EVA ship and boat bay.
Crew of 6, 4 decks.
Now do I melt the Aquila?...
Finally, we’re ending the process with a much-awaited concept sale! On November 28th, we will launch the Anvil Carrack explorer concept sale. The Carrack will be available for $345, with LTI and the standard concept sale bonus features (in-game ship model and poster.)

Can I do that with my new ship??
If you have a ship with 6 months insurance, and the same ship is available in the Asale, then yes you can. Check prices before hand, but they should be the same.
Keep in mind however, that once you use store credit (melt credit) to buy an item, that item is bound/non-giftable.
Got a retaliator :)

Quote from: Ninja_Freak;391368Can I do that with my new ship??
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Standalone-Ships/Freelancer-MIS-Anniversary
So you could melt the Freelancer + MIS upgrade and then repurchase it and get 2 years hull insurance which replaces your current 6 month insurance. You can check the melt value by clicking the 'exchange for credits' button and it will tell you the $ value. If it adds up to the $165 price of the new version (which it will) then you're good to go.
If the ship I melt is my original and only "package" ship, do I also lose the alpha/game access or the hangar, or anything else? Is there a way to definitively find that out somewhere from the officials? :-)

The package details are listed in the sale, the 350R Anniversary package for example has Beta Access but not Alpha, so I guess it's aimed heavily at those with additional ships. I'll update my note on the separate thread.

Congratulations, man! That's one I would love, but can't justify with the carrack coming up. I did upgrade my regular hornets to superhornets though - so the Idris is well stocked:
1 x Tracker hornet
3 x Superhornet
So far I've managed to keep my whole fleet LTI too, somehow. This makes me happy.
I'm going to try and hang onto it. Need to raise some more now. Didn't think I would be. But if the choice comes about I've got a redeemer to melt first. Need to do maths and do some accounting.
Honestly, I think every man and their dog's going to have a Carrack. The Retaliator is a lovely ship.
Is not what that I don't want one. It's just if prefer the Explorer aspect of it. In going to try and raise the cash. I might manage it without melting. :(
In which case, you'll have all the awesome.
Here's to Hoping.
Traded the LN in for the LX. Jump drive and 2 years Insurance were a good selling point and I originally pledged for the LN to be a fighter but I have the Super Hornet now which is a major plus. Kept the Package (thanks Gorion) so I have the second character.
Cheers Guys!

I was starting to think the same. It's strange how everyone is going for ships with several crew members but in reality most people play games solo most of the time. You'd think the Freelancer would be the ideal explorer given it's simplicity compared to the Constellation or Carrack.

The problem is, people have seen Firefly. Everyone wants the Serenity now.

Man's gotta make a profit!

That's why you need to recruit your wife as a co-op player like I did ;)
The rest of the slots will be filled by Jabba slave girls, or UEE coats with double laser pistols.
They added a bunch of ships, including reataliator, banu, khatru-al etc.
