Anyone else have any tips for finding trade routes?
I had been messing with the Trade Filters on the Galaxy map coupled with the Commodities Market Low Demand/Galaxy Average. Until I found the Elite Trading Tool.
http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/, Easier then keeping my own spreadsheet.
The trade data is manually entered by it's users (crowd sourced). Star Data from http://www.edstarcoordinator.com/
My current trade route is
Superconductors from Mokosh (Bethe Station) to LTT 15449 (Barry Terminal) (about 8,000 profit)
Marine Equipment from LTT 15449 (Barry Terminal) to Mokosh (Bethe Station) (about 3,000 profit)
It's 1 jump, although Bethe Station is a good 2500LS from it's Star.
Yes that's a good page, but the Galaxy is so vast it's taking time for the systems to get populated.
Most of our group is around "Zeta Trianguli Austrais" which is next to Mari (easier to type and search for).
Lots of good trade options around here. But it's 90 Light Years from your current systems.
I'm slowly getting admin access to add data to the elite trading tool. I can update/confirm prices on commodities for now. I'll make my way over when I can start adding star systems.
I have Expert level admin and having added several systems weeks ago none of them were actually added to the tool by Thrud. I'll check again and maybe there will be new systems to edit.

The last few nights I have just been using the in-game system in the market. The rightmost column is clickable like a menu. From there you select the system you want to go to, and the list shows Export to behind the commodities that is exported to the selected system.
Then it is just a matter of finding the commodity with the highest availability in your current "price range".
Buy it and travel to the system you chose.
Depending of the demand there you will get various amounts of profit. If you manage to find things in high availability on one place, and high demand in the other place you have done good!

I think I've got expert but no access to add systems yet. Although I think you might also need to add them to the http://www.edstarcoordinator.com/.

Yea totally forgot about that, I also note you can buy "trade data" on the Galaxy Map, not sure what that actually does, I'll have to look it up. (edit: http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2n6djh/how_does_trade_data_work/) Still none the wiser :)

I added some systems to that page and weeks later they weren't visible in the main page. Let me check again and see what access I have now.
Yeah it's as I expected, the system is there but no stations are associated with it. (Moepirt I added a week ago).

Edit: Ignore me I read too much into that line...
"
In advanced mode you probably want to turn off cr checking, so you get all names, and not just those confirmed 5 times."
I think it might need confirming by other people before it becomes active. Bit of a pain
I have to be honest, if we had our own shared folder with screenshots of the commodities markets from our fav stations, it would save us hours of typing. Plus it would be private so nobody else would learn of our routes via the online tools.

Good idea, I'll start making my way across, have we decided on a central hub? I vaguely recall reading something about one.
Is it possible to screen shot all the commodity prices in 1 go? I have a lot of scroll on mine.

whoops
I have been feeding all the trade commodity prices from the systems I visit around Zeta Trianguli Australis (LHS 3295, Moepirt, etc) into Slopeys ED BPC (http://elitebpc.com/bpc/) (Windows version).
It works well, when it works! It's just a bit tedious getting the prices input initially.
Well I made it to Zeta Trianguli Austrais last night.. err this morning :) 85LY straight line, must have travelled double that.
I sold my trawler and streamlined the eagle and stuck a fuel scope on it. Had to buy a few bits to get more distance. When I got to Zeta, sold the eagle and re-bought the trawler. Ended up with 67k in credits.
Ready to build up some cash :) next time I'm allowed to play, wife wasn't too happy :S
So I did a bit of digging after Mr Virgo posted a nice screenshot on Twitter of him earning 500K profit for trading Lavian Brandy.

Tried first half this afternoon:
15:54 departed LHS 3295 (Yang Hub)
16:13 arrived LAVE
16:17 Docked at LAVE STATION
16:18 Bought 100T of Lavian Brandy for 3,400CR per ton. of the 148T available!
Toxandji is 100.64Ly from LAVE
16:20 Departed LAVE
16:40 Arrived HIP 54846 system
16:44 HIP 54846 (Virtanen Station) - docked to refuel 7,728 CR of fuel
16:46 departed Virtanen
16:48 arrived Toxandji system
16:54 Docked at Tsunenaga Orbital
7,028CR Profit per ton - 702,800CR total profit.
Now 133.85 Lyr from LHS 3295 and 220Lyr from Ethgreze..
I didn't upgrade to the Type 6 given the possible wipe and the fact I'm away for much of the next week or 2. Good effort! I did the Lave to Toxandji to Ethgreze and then to the one that has some sort of paste for sale. The Cobra is worth about 6 mill now.
So whilst having a hour of play whilst on holiday.... avg fps 5! I was in Jameson Memorial Station in the Founders System and I bought Progenator Cells for 5700....hopped on system over and sold them for 7300! 1600CR Profit, took some Silver there and hopped 19Ls to the next station and sold them for a 1000CR profit. 100K in 1 jump profit. Back to Jameson for another 12K CR profit.
Thanks to Thrudd, I can now add systems and stations to his trading tool (http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/) for us to use.
I have added Moepirt, LHS 3295 and Zeta Trianguli Australis and plan to add the other surrounding worlds as and when - let me know if you have any favourites...
Awesome :) not sure when I'll have chance to jump back in but looking forward to it.

That post was when there were no tools that had up to date trade info in them. Now things have settled a bit there are several sources of good info. So that extreme idea of mine (glad it never took off) can be forgotten. :) No need for a lounge, we Elite Commanders don't hang around in lounges, we just go straight to the docking bay :norty:
Talking with Vozard and Arcon this morning, I thought I would post this.
If you have a small ship with low cargo capacity, then Rare Commodities are the answer. First you need to make sure you have a Frameshift drive capable of 10Lyr or higher - you don't want to get stuck.
A route to take is from our home system of Zeta Trianguli Australis or it's neighbours, head for Toxandji and at Tsunaga Orbital buy "Toxanji Virocide" it costs a few hundred CR per tonne. It sells back here for 14-15,000CR per tonne. So a Sidewinder can make 60,000CR in a trip. That's a lot of trading (15 trips at 1,000CR per tonne).
If you are feeling adventurous, go from Toxandji to Eranin (Azeban City) sell the Virocide then, buy Eranin Whiskey then take that to Lave (Lave Station) and sell the Whiskey and buy Lavian Brandy then head back to Toxandji to sell.
Use your discovery scanner on the way to rack up cartography credits and stop every 50Lyr to refuel and sell the map data to fund the trip.
Doing the lap twice will raise enough cash to buy a Cobra Mk III.
This is all good if there is actually stock of the rare goods in the station which with only a 4 unit cargo hold should be the case but I've seen 1 unit in stock before and I believe there were no units of one commodity this being? (Cigars Arithon?)

Managed this run and made 233,200 credits :) (Hauler with 16 capacity)
It's definitely worth just hanging around in a station for 20 mins whilst enough to reach a Hauler limit spawns. Gets a bit boring waiting for 40 for a Cobra and you can do more trading in an hour with a Type-6 than you will get through rare random spawns. I think it's purely luck whether enough product is for sale.
Yea makes sense, I lucked out, when I landed there where 4 units, but I lost connectivity (frequently last night), when I got back on there were another 17 units available.
I ended up using https://cmdr.club/routes/ to workout the journey, 12 jumps roughly 135LY.
I've been hopping around in a Type-6 with 28LY jump range. It's Mega economical and I can do 160+ LY on one tank with low load. I may remove 2 cargo modules and drop in a surface scanner and a fuel scoop and go on a road trip.
Managed 2 return trips to TOXANJI for a few (32 :)) containers of the golden virus and made 430,000 samoleums, taking my kite in excess of half a million.
Just had my last trip on Gamma 2.07 and I would like to thank all of you guys who have been so helpful to this geriatric space walker. Much appreciated and look forward
to upgrading at noon today.
Awesome, nice wee bonus to start the game in full Glory. What you need now is a nice 200k new ship to reward yourself.

I just found a simple tool to record stations supply. It does not record prices, But demand and supply, so it it easy to find routes. You update it easily by yourself.
You can also keep track of Outfitting and Shipyards for later use.
It can also be used to see where to find items for missions.
I will try this over Christmas.

I like the sound of this. I found most of the places I explore are not charted so I have to make a good guess on what to buy at which price. I take a note of the galaxy minimum price I see for all items and if I find an item at or near the minimum I know to buy it. I then find a large population wealthy system of the type that buys the commodity I just put in my cargo hold and I go there and make a profit. Minimum 500CR profit per unit without Thrudd or other calculators.
The biggest issue and challenge is finding goods that are on the fetch missions, with a short time period.
just found an epic trade route between lave and toxandji, if i can fill my hold up with certain rarietes (which i did on the 2nd trip both ways) i made a cool 200k

CMDR Oldbloke mentioned yesterday evening he fancies trying to find out what the Type 9 ships Seeking Luxuries, are after. Turns out Performance Enhancers (they're not interested in Gold or Consumer Tech btw) are one thing they want and it just so happens that Tryggvason Orbital in Zeaex has a job lot of 'em at 6440CR which is nearly 700CR below the average.
183Ls away is a Seeking Luxuries marker and there the trader (via skimming past him 200Km away) will gladly take all your performance enhancers and give you 1105 CR profit per ton!
Roll on 534820CR profit per run in the 484T Type-9 behemoth !
It's faster than jumping, uses very little fuel and is making me a million CR every 20 mins right, try it out before they nerf!
Plus the added advantage of reduced chance of overheating on exiting hyperjump in front of one of those nasty little white dwarfs! Type-9 has no turning speed, so you have to cut all engine speed on dropout at the Nav beacon or burn up!
Our "Seeking Luxuries" trade run in Beta Scupltoris is (in)famous and may soon come to an end (in civil war).

Why would I want to spend more money on this heap of rubbish when it is only meant to make money for my cobra?
It jumps 18Lyr unladen which is enough and will do most runs I need. But I dont want to spend any more money on it.

Because you can sell it for the same money before you sell the T6 and lose nothing.
Just a note that Frontier have commented regarding the "Seeking Luxuries" route we are all enjoying right now. They have said normally the supply of Performance Enhancers should run out, but due to a bug, they haven't. So this won't last.
Get rich while you can peeps!
Now that this has been stated is it unethical and cheating by proxy? I would say given it's been going on for over a week there could easily have been a server side tweak to fix this and FD have allowed people to exploit the hell out of it. Fill your boots!
Upgrade 1.07 d'loaded (small) this afternoon and the bug is still there :yahoo:
Pocketed CR 1.2 million in just under an hour :D
Hmm I can see going to have to park my Cobra and get back in the Hateful Hauler
Try this:
Macuayan (Tarter Dock) <---> Gridge - (Unsold Hub) | Commodities: Palladium and Consumer Tech | Profits up to 1220 and 1550 / T. | 21.51 LY to 3 jumps | very stable at the moment
Curtiesy of Maeyae
;) That's hardly 1-way. Though 2.8 k/t is not so bad. Consider using http://bloodhound.ethx.net/ to find an even better route.
That URL anyone heard of it?
Cheers,
Bert

Yep. Made around 20M Cr last night then spent it all on buffing my Anaconda (9M on A7 Power Distributor and 11M on A6 FSD upgrade, 2.2M on A4 Fuel Scoop), the rest went on Beam Lasers, Missile batteries and cannons.
Back down to 5M Cr :(

However, now that the traders seeking luxuries have moved on and the place is now a war zone, I've found a nice little legitimate trade route in an adjacent system.
Ancante - taking tobacco to Challis Vision and returning to Vogel Orbital with Marine Equipment, under 700ls away. In my Type 7 I'm clearing 360,000 a lap.
Fancy a rares route that no-one else has been doing? Well you can use this to plot one http://eliteraretrader.co.uk/. It even lets you save them.
Hello Everyone
I made some spread sheets for some quick easy profit routes, centered around Lugh and the starting area of Erevate.
I also added the big money maker in also, its a very easy route, and makes roughly 1414Cr per ton.
I have also added other documents for mining materials & metal base values, and reputation ranks(unconfirmed data).
Edit- added in information about ship upgrades, costs, and runs req to gain the creds.

Updated 23/04/15.
Note to start with, you will mostly be trading low value items (power generators, food etc), until you can get more cash for better trade goods- Money makes more money!
Once you have a hauler you can make a decent amount of cash quickly, and step up in the trading world.
Save up, and grab a Cobra Mkiii, and with a little effort, you`ll have a 40 ton money maker, with guns!
Basic rules of trading
Your starting ship-the sidewinder, dump your scanner and get +2 tons module ASAP (huge profit difference), as the scanner doesn't not give any really profits unless your 20+ light years away from your scanned system (useless starting out, but handy later on in a big ship)
Use the bulletin board, and match your cargo run to the quest destination (ignore 3+ jumps)
Make some cash, grab a +2/4 ton module but leave enough to pay for insurance(buyback) and cargo
Check out your current system for trade routes on http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/
It`s not 100% up to date, but the rough figures are working, and you Will make you profit, should you do it correctly
Do a few checks with the site above, with your starting destination- using alternative end ones, try to keep jumps less to than 4, as fuel may be an issue
look for a quick easy route- a 3 way trip can make you a lot of cash, or even in system trading can make a decent amount for smaller ships (Erevate)
Before using your precious cash, make sure you write it down (yes pen and paper, or a tablet/ duel screen if your posh) and compare to the above site
Make sure you map it correctly, and use the fastest route- in the cartographer - double check the route until your familiar with it.
I`m more than willing to help out the community the same way.
If you are interdicted(attacked in cruse mode) look at your target (press 1- contacts, lock on) if you have any doubts about you winning the fight, RUN AWAY!
This is more so when you have a full load of cargo (its not insured) and you can lose a lot of your precious initial funds, i learnt this the hard way, damn pirates!
Stay safe out there!
New trade route
East India Company Announces Galactic Silk Road
The East India Company, one of the larger pilots’ federation members, recently announced a new initiative they are calling “the Galactic Silk Roadâ€. This is a public trade route available to all, and features seventeen of the most highly profitable stops in civilised space.
Although profitable trade routes are nothing new, the East India Company spokesperson in charge of the route, a CMDR Bunny, announced that the organisation will provide protection to those traders wanting to benefit, and has even gone as far as to say that arrangements have been made with the Federal Navy, Mercs of Mikunn, the Merchant Marines, and other factions, in order to patrol the route and protect traders.
The new route is named after the famous four thousand mile trade route across Earth’s continents of Europe and Asia, first seen over three thousand years ago, where merchants made large profits trading silk cloth, while the wealth helped the emerging cultures along the route to prosper and develop.
I`ve done the math, and its not really worth it, longer jumps, more time consuming and less profit. This is multiplied by roughly a factor of three, when taking into account the distance to be traveled.
For those wishing to see the math, and profit calculations look here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMxwl6KtsP3RmQ3ZjJRNlE1QWs/view?usp=sharing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxMxwl6KtsP3RmQ3ZjJRNlE1QWs/view?usp=sharing)

There a lot of significant changes to all the ships shields/ armour values! It seems that shield were just a bit too strong, and that armour was too weak in some cases the ship armour has been increased by a factor of 3!

It is VERY easy to use
Just type in the system you are at in the 1st box.
Now go to the right side, select your ship- if its fitted out for trade- click optimized
Click search and watch the magic happen!
Edit- you can scroll in and out with your mouse wheel too (provided your web browser is set up that way)
Enjoy
