I noticed that a lot of the meet ups for start citizen are down south. And I hate southerners (joke) I'm wondering how many would consider doing a few meet ups a little more north?
While this would be Sc related. I'm in discussion with a member of the sc UK face book group. Their group is trying to get some member of foundry 42 to come. Quite exciting really. It might be an idea to affiliate or schmooze with a pretty big org. So knows it could lead to an alliance or merger but that would be up to the seniors. :-P
Could always have it at one of the LaNs, I guess that's north enough?
I could be up for this, I'm in Sheffield :)
You're welcome to use the Star Citizen UK meetup group on meetup.com to advertise/organise something.
Myself and Matt Kennett (Kenetor on the RSI forums) are planning on putting together a Grand Meetup in or around Manchester next year with the aim of getting a studio tour and/or a pub meet with some of the devs.
If you're interested in either of the above drop by www.meetup.com/Star-Citizen-UK-Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Star-Citizen-UK-Meetup)
EDIT: And I'll advertise it on the Star Citizen UK Facebook group as well. :)
Neat I didn't know how many northerners were in on this but this is cool. If there is already something larger in the works (awesome) then we will try to make this a bit more ' ethnic '.
I'm in Lincolnshire and i know a few others are. We could do one round here and then another more centrally, Sheffield sounds like it would be perfect for that.
Nice avatar by the way obs ;) feel free to add me on fb :)
I'm up for trying something a little more local and perhaps more frequent. You (Galatoni) mentioned a few ppl around Scunthorpe and someone in Brigg that might be interested. If you stick it up on meetup.com with the idea of doing something in North Lincolnshire around Brigg/Scunthorpe then see what the interest is. Hell I'd be happy if we just met up for a beer in Scunthorpe :)
The Grand Meetup sounds like an ace idea, would be really cool to have a studio tour :)
I've popped a suggestion on the meetup page. May as well get this thing started :)
Happy give this thread more prominence, make sticky, make into an article if required.
That'd be useful. Just getting organiser status so we can start discussing dates. :)
Ok. Before I actually open the meetup, just wanted to update here. The group on star citizen UK on Facebook are discussing arrangements now but it's looking like around the middle of January in Barton upon Humber. Just near the south side of the Humber bridge. Input welcome both here and in the face book page.
Why not do a joint one? You know, the more the merrier?
Or do one on a regular basis?
I'd be happy to help in any way I can with regards coordinating something, just let me know if there's anything I can do.
I'm totally up for everything. Looking like the 15th of January. I'll get the event up on meetup.com in the morning. With any luck the first of many. I'll link as soon as it's done.
Aye. If it works out ok a regular one or joint would be great.
Meetup event is live. Please get yourself signed up if you're interested. It'd be awesome if some of the senior members of DMW could make it, but I understand timetables are tough. I wonder if Justin Tolerable could make it - the man is owed a drink for a certain event ;)

Ha ha! I'd love to, but it's a real stretch with the location. It'll have to be a last minute decision, I'm afraid! I'd be driving over, so it'd have to be a coke ;)
Same here. I understand about the meetup. Sorry it couldn't be more central :(

We have discussed it and are happy to support you in anyway we can. I'm not sure any of the Council can make it but please don't take that as a sign of ambivalence, it's just the timings aren't quite right.
It would be nice to tie it up with dMw somehow and a mention on your meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Star-Citizen-UK-Meetup/events/219255044/) page would be lovely. If only to help drive traffic to us and increase the membership.
You mentioned regular meetings. Please bear in mind we do run two LANs per year in April and October and this may work well. The location is March in Cambridgeshire. I've no doubt that at least one of those (normally Oct) turns into a clan meeting of some description be it WoW or whatever.
Cheers!

^ Yes please. Plus, you get an influx of Star Crazy gamers.
No problem. At least one other dmw member will be there anyway.
Numbers aren't looking great for the meet so far. I'll try and get a mention on the meetup page though ;)
First meetup of the Northern Star Citizen group went alright. 5 of us turned up and we chatted about just about everything we could think of. I'm thinking that another town would be in order though. Brigg didn't really do it for most of us lol.
If anyone has any suggestions regarding venue, please let us know. The more people we can get interested and coming to this, the better it will be for all.
For me as long as we are enjoying it I wouldn't worry about growing the group just yet. Try a different town, maybe Barton next, might get a few more from Hull. I can't see us pulling people from York/Leeds it's just to far for a pub meetup.
I think it would be worth setting a theme for each meetup. I'm sure if we can find a venue with a TV we could commandeer it to put up some content.
edit: we might also try promoting the meetup on the SC Forums?
Nice ideas!
Hopefully going to organise another one of these in the not too distant future. I'll be updating the meetup page soon, just wanted to check with people for locations/times etc...
Please avoid the weekends around the LAN. Thanks.

As Galatoni is attending the LAN I shouldn't think it a problem :)
edit: opps I missed the word "around". Still I shouldn't think it a problem as myself and Gala (and recently joined SiftAfricaan) are the only dMw that will likely attend the meetup.
