Title: Elite: Dangerous - 1.0.0.0
Post by: albert on December 16, 2014, 12:21:35 PM
Incoming! The game is officially released. This topic is to discuss features or issues and release specific topics!

Loaded up ok on my Windows Slate. Not much more I can say at this stage.

Change log for those updating from Gamma:

- Prevent missions softlocks when switching servers from A->B->A without disconnecting from A
- Check if we should use the neutron star's version of the bolometric luminosity first to prevent soft lock
- Avoid crash in creating a location object when it hits a rare window
- Sky box view distance altered to reduce memory usage in highly populated regions

Last edited by Edward Lewis; Today at*1:34 PM.

Hence not a large update from Gamma.

Cheers,

Bert

Quick for me too, even had enough time to nip to TOX and bag another CR 230,000 and its not even time for afternoon tea.
Smooth as silk, no issues.:yahoo:
Looked as if Verner was heading to TOX also :yes2:

So tell us, how many of these rare items are you finding on first arriving at Tox? Previously it was 4-9 but now more?

I waited for about an hour before going back and had 32. At Lave I only got 12 after the same wait time. So yes about 8 the first time. then wait for the next shipment in....

I found this surprising - ED was hardly using a lot of memory on my machine.
Unless it's VRAM usage.

On arrival,only 2. Booger!
Decided to  look at the Bulletin board and found a mission to another port in the same system. Completed the mission and found a return trip.
Landed, checked Commodities  and discovered 20 units,:yahoo: bought top-up (14) and scurried home to Zeta TA

Last night servers were all stable and solid, noticed a little graphics lag in planet approach, but otherwise the release version is top dollar!

I dropped two cargo slots and bought an advanced system scanner and detailed surface scanner. Scanned one system last night and got 7,000CR+

Need to scan a few systems to see if it's a money-spinner or a hobby activity while not trading.

Found a few pointers on Slave acquisition! I have a need for 8 to liberate (not in the way you would do it Lib!) in order to gain more reputation with the Sublime Cult of Van Maanens Star.

Free the slaves!

PS. Put in context, I spend 500LY of travel time looking for Slaves! Finally got bored and googled for it.

If anyone is stuck on the fringe of the Galaxy and can't find their Eagle, or is in a Sidewinder with zero jump range and wants help, just yell out on TS.

I am quite happy to fly to your location and dump a few 1,000CR of cargo on you so you can afford a FrameShift drive upgrade, after which I can escort you safely to the dMw home systems of LHS 3295 / Zeta Trianguli Australis.

Also, take the time (and a beverage of your choice) to watch the Elite: Dangerous Training videos (http://elitedangerous.com/guide/training/)  as well as having a go with the single-player combat training (from the launcher).

Hi Sulks, Click update Launcher... ED hasn't got an auto Launcher update feature yet or didn't up to v1.0.0.0 release.

Edit, ok you're spot on, the thing is botched, grrr.

The normal course of action is to sell the Eagle, having scanned every system and planet for a few jumps, and taken some low load missions, you should be able to get a Hauler, and do some larger missions and trading.

Of course you could just enjoy the Sidey and take your time acquiring credits, plenty of time to get into the game.

Looks like the latest patch reduces the amount of Rare Commodities available. Might need to sell my RC fitted Adder then and get a Cobra again. Oh well....

It appears to stop others from eating up your share of rares. You can go to as many stations with rare commodities as you like and always be guaranteed something but not an over share of the goods. Most spawn 10 units every 10 minutes so you can make 650K every 45 mins if your organised.

Just had immense fun travelling down to Sorbago (spelling?) where the story is starting to unfold. I'm almost there, but had fun in my cobra killing pirates and haulers with bounties on their heads.
However, I do need to learn how to smuggle stolen goods into a station - pads are an easy out but I'm sure the good are cheaply sold!

The way I do it is arrive at station staying 9km out i then line up with the entrance and then throttle all the way up.  Then I request docking, once I get it a stay locked on and at around 2km I hit the boost button so I go through so quickly I dont get scanned then when clear of the portal. Revers thrusters and hit landing gear and clench!!!

That's what I tried, but I got the aim badly wrong and crashed into the station - didn't manage to get any pips to shields so went bada boom :(

Well practice in your cheapest ship :) or with out any cargo :)

Oh man, sorry to hear that!

Here is my method. I circle around planetside in supercruise so I am facing the entrance when I disengage.
I then accelerate to full speed with all pips to engines and 2 to systems and boost twice and hit FA off on the first one (note only boost when you are at full speed or all you achieve is fast acceleration to full speed). When I get a comfrtable distance away (4Km) I turn FA on, I move 4 pips to systems at 2Km leaving 2 to engines and I slap the 75% speed button as I near the wire frames. I go through at 75% with sys 4 and eng 2 and at worst they begin scanning me as I enter the letter box and it gets cutoff on full entry past the airlock.

You don't have to boost from full engines to get in fast enough, the above will get you there as long as you are facing the right way and don't get the 2 boosts wrong and don't get to full boost.

Can't we practice this in the tutorial station?

How about a Holiday docking race? Same as the FD devs did a few months ago: 1) Undock, 2) clear to 5Km, 3) face away from the station, 4) request to dock and 5) time your flight to landing successful, engines disengaged!

More kudos if filmed but we can trust eachother can't we :norty: prize, 10 slaves from Alberts personal stock! :woot2:

1.0.2 reverted to an allocation of rare goods per player without the ability to steal other players allocation. So if you got none you already had it!
