Title: X-Plane steam sale
Post by: TeaLeaf on January 07, 2015, 10:09:59 AM
For those interested, X-Plane is 50% off until the end of 8/1/15.

It's not FSX, it's different.   The TLDR is:

FSX with addons looks far nicer and has way better big aircraft system simulation.

X-Plane has a much better flight model, so you'll feel the crosswinds on landing that you won't in FSX.

Disclaimer: Other TLDR's may reach different conclusions, DYOR.

It's delightful to look at. I'm nearly tempted as the base game comes with so much content anyway.

so i bought it and it is downloading as we speak, I also bought the carenado 337 for it as well. Ill get back to you later on how it runs.

I have used xplane before, but i found it hard to use menu's wise and the flight model for certain aircraft unrelealistic. Especailly the cessna that i have flown IRL.

cant see stuff in work but you can get guides to making it look as goods as fsx with orbx (link in thread below)

I have played the previous version of X-Plane and didn't get on with it but to be honest I didn't really give it much time so im willing to give it another go.

Interestingly, FSX releasing in Steam has certainly awakened the bean counters at X Plane with this price drop, 2 drops in 3 months from X Plane clear indicates nervousness. Also reviews of FSX are Very Positive at almost 1000, X Plane 300 Mixed mainly due to people not understanding both games have premium 3rd party content, not just X Plane.

I feel a war coming on. Bought :D X Plane looks so nice but I won't be changing from FSX for online with you guys.

I'm still getting my head round FSX, maybe once I've mastered that.
