Please post here if you need help with transport from an airport to the LAN (or back again). When transport has been offered by another LAN/Meet attendee we'll add the details here so that we can see who has transport and who still needs to be helped out.
I've booked to come but that is always conditional on work commitments, which being Dark Overlord of my own mighty conglomerate is not always something I can know in advance. So my attendance on coming to a LAN is always conditional on not having a clash with a big assignment. With that in mind I should be heading out from North West London and going up the A1 or M1 to the Hotel on Thursday morning and coming home on Sunday afternoon. Heathrow, London, Stansted and Luton airports are all close enough
Once all the international travels have sorted out transport, feel free to take my request into consideration.
I'd really appreciate a lift on the Thursday from Heathrow, and a lift back on the Sunday if possible. I travel light, just dragging the laptop along. no cases or monitors. :)
On Sunday is anyone able to drop me at a mainline station (Peterborough or Cambridge for e.g.) from which I can get a fast train into London? :-)
Most likely one or the other..
I've had to change my plans due to a hospital appointment. I will now be arriving on Friday morning at 07.15am. Not Thursday as originally planned. Toby has been informed as he was picking me up originally. The Cromwell have also been told.
If anyone is free to drop by Heathrow T5 any time after my arrival it would be appreciated.

bummer man.. can you take a train that will get you closer? happy to stay sober enough to come get you.
I wouldn't ask that of you mate, thanks for offering. I was sort of hoping maybe we had a few attendees coming up from the South on Friday. If not I'll hire a car.
Car hire in the UK for pickup and drop off at different depots is insane. They have a surcharge for not bringing it back to the original pickup point.
If anyone is coming around the M25 on schedule to arrive in March about mid day then I would greatly appreciate a pickup.
I'll pre-order train tickets at the usual UK rip off price on Wednesday so if you can please let me know asap. Thanks.
Why would you be dropping off mate? Why not have it for the weekend?
Its about £120 for the weekend. Plus fuel. Say £149. Train is £57 and I assume I can still have a lift back on Sunday?
Bert. If you arrive Friday am what time can you get to a local"ish" train station. I'm thinking before midday. Again more than happy to pick you up.
Let me know. Not sure what you're return journey is like. Has it changed?

Ninja I am giving him a lift back to Heathrow with No Peanuts
What's your planned route?
I guess Heathrow, tube to Kings Cross, Kings Cross to Cambridge, Cambridge to March - is that right?
(It's an additional change if you train from Heathrow to Paddington > Kings X > Cambs > March but it may be quicker than a load of tube stops)?
I've got to leave Friday a little flexible for work but worse case can definitely pick you up from March regardless. Unlike Ninja, if I started drinking at noon I'd be asleep by 3 so don't mind what time you arrive!
If you roughly know your timings I can see if I can pick you up anywhere earlier enroute.
Yes I looked at both the Heathrow Express and the Tube to get to Kings X. The way the timetable works out is that I end up arriving in a quiet patch between 09.15 and 09.40 so the extra 15 mins the train saves me is absorbed by the lack of train at the other end.
So I land at 07.30 scheduled. I have a ticket for the 10.08 to March via Peterborough and arrive in March by 11.30. I'll call Sulky when I arrive.
If the flights are on time then I should have plenty time to get across London. I think it works out a similar time to driving anyway overall and the Virgin East Coast is pretty nice, with a seat reserved etc.
