I've started to get a wierd browser problem and am kind of stumped as to what is going on, so looking for some help here.
I run Google Chrome Version 42.0.2282.2 canary (64-bit). Chrome reports as up to date.
Extensions:
A number of them, but I have disabled them all bar Lastpass and the problem remains.
Plugins:
Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 1.4.7.771
Adobe Flash Player (2 files) - Version: 16.0.0.280
Native Client
Chrome PDF Viewer
Microsoft Office - Version: 15.0.4514.1000
NPLastPass - Version: 2.5.5
Java(TM) (2 files) - Version: 11.25.2.18
Silverlight - Version: 5.1.31211.0
System scans all report clean: Avast, Malwarebytes (and rootkit) etc.
No unexpected CPU, RAM, HDD or network use.
The problem:
Delays in some webpages loading.
Not all web pages are slowed, for example RSI loads just fine.
Where I notice it most is in Gmail or some business sites where (like one where I had to log in with a digital certifiate). Sometimes moving from Mail to Contacts is slow (10+ second variety of slow), searching contacts might take the same period, Gmail seems to 'lose connection', Gmail cannot access my contacts.
It can't be network related, as I can get the IE via data just fine and other apps work fine at the same time.
Chrome tabs sometimes continue to display the 'loading spiral' at the top of the tab for some time (some sites it never seems to go away - currently one tab that I moved from Gmail to Contacts 5 minutes ago is still showing the whirling spiral). Some tabs fail to load at all telling me the site is unavailable, but then load fine on a refresh.
Everything eventually works, but during the delay I can switch to IE and get exactly the same data without the 'lag' before Chrome returns the data, so it is clearly a browser-related problem.
One final note: I am also running Chrome Version 39.0.2171.99 m (64-bit) which is the non-Canary version. This is a hangover from the days when the release was 32 bit and Canary was 64 bit, but I also use it to keep two different gmail accounts open in different windows as I have experienced some problems when trying to keep different gmail accounts open in different tabs of the same browser - and I can't afford to accidentally load client files onto the wrong shared google drive!
You are meant to be able to run both Canary and the release simultaneously though, so this might not be the problem.
I know Canary is the least stable Chrome channel, but the problem seems wierd none the less.
Any suggestions here?
I don't have a solution but I do often see the loading circle on tabs remain long after the page appears to be fully loaded. I have none of your other issues though. So maybe the loading icon issue isn't unique to your problem. The only odd thing seems to be having the dual versions of Chrome up? Maybe remove the canary version completely and try using Firefox for a while as your second browser, just to see if that's the root cause? I run two GMail accounts and use Firefox for most of my Google apps stuff and Chrome for day to day Google services - You Tube, browsing, search etc.
Does the problem persist when you are in Incognito mode TL ?

I've already uninstalled Canary, I'll check Incognito mode if the problem remains. Thanks :)
I find the circle tab problem happens with sites that have social media plugins.
To stop the thing annoying you, refresh the tab and press Esc. Stops the page from loading all the content, but at least it stops bugging you.
You might have some DNS issues, "Some tabs fail to load at all telling me the site is unavailable, but then load fine on a refresh." as that is what usually happens, and that intermittent delay for page loads.
Might also be a good idea to run a full malware/viri sweep.
Is your proxy set to Auto Detect perchance?

Nope. That box is unticked.
I can't think of any other solutions other than to uninstall all Chrome browsers and start again. I assume you want Chrome specifically for the google integration of apps, bookmarks etc. I found any time I run 2 Google accounts on one PC it only ever performed well when in 2 different browsers. I know Firefox or IE don't integrate as well but I'd always recommend sticking with one flavour of each browser not two. Sorry its a compromise but that's my observation.

Have you checked these?
You might have to call your provider, and tell them to check their DNS forwarders. Are you using your ISP DNS IP, or Google 8.8.8.8?
Switched DNS back to 8.8.8.8, I had been on it and moved it to my ISP's one to test something a while back. Will see if it makes any diff.
The refresh thing is not a cure for the problem, so I haven't tried that.
The refresh thing was aimed at the non-stop page loading circle on tabs. I get that on some sites too, and it annoys the hell out of me, so refresh + Esc, and the circle goes away.
The Google DNS should take longer than an ISP DNS as you have to travel more hops, but if there's something wrong with the ISP DNS server, then you should see a difference.
Have there been any moans about BT fiber recently and about their DNS on user forums? I have to say Google DNS tends to be slower but reliable as Gorion say but one other thing Is Google sometimes misdirects you to the wrong Geo IP meaning you may be accessing apps at a server far away and that would explain the slowness.

Is it possible to get fiber from someone else other than BT?
Anyhoo, I use BT Fibre, but Gosomb is my ISP.
I use Google DNS purely because my ISP DNS doesn't support DNSSEC, which matters to me.
I believe it's either BT Fibre or Virgin Cable. Although obviously you can pick who supplies you across BT Fibre.
