Title: King Air 350 Glider
Post by: TeaLeaf on February 10, 2015, 09:27:04 AM
Had the most fun this morning running Heathrow to Glasgow.  Deliberately went skinny on fuel and as a consequence ran out of fuel 24 miles from the airport. :norty:

Trying to stick-fly the glider in the last 24 miles was tremendous fun and resulted in an easy touchdown.  I actually had to bleed off excess height before landing , so I reckon from FL150 I could easily have made it from over 30 miles out.

Well worth trying, if nothing else than for the experience of trying to maintain an ideal attitude and speed whilst still navigating to an airport and managing a reasonable glide slope, all without engine power!  The 14 passengers were relieved!

Nah, they knew nothing.  I'd slipped them ruffies so that they didn't know what was going on.
