Title: RAM Settings on the dual channel nForce2
Post by: TeaLeaf on January 06, 2004, 11:45:25 PM
I had a discussion with a member of this community recently about fast memory and I was trying to convince them that slower was faster.  The article you can read here (http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=1&artpage=497&articID=133) shows you the proof.  It doesn't try to persuade you to go out and buy super-fast RAM, but it gives you some idea of what settings to use if you already have some.  Overclockers trying to get the most out of their system will benefit most from this advice.

Think of the RAM pathways as an airport and the data signals as 747-400s.  Ask anyone at Heathrow and they'll tell you - After a big fast jet has landed you DO NOT want to go flying any other aircraft through that air for a while, you wait until the turbulence and wind sheer has died down and *then* land another one.  RAM works the same way when at very high speed.  It needs a bit more time to do the job.  Push RAM to hard at higher speeds and it will make errors and have to do the job again, thus making the slower and error free speed faster :D

In next week's installment I will prove Red = Black ;)
