I am sure many of us here have read 1 or 2 of his books, and for some his books have meant a great deal indeed. He has passed away at too young an age, and it is a shame he did not live to see the inevitable film / TV conversions that his books will, I am sure, one day be treated to. A prolific and talented author, he was Knighted in 2009 for his contribution to literature. Taken away after fighting with Alzheimers since 2007, we lose one of our countries' most known and best selling authors.

Rest in peace, Sir Pratchett.

“DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.†- Good Omens
What a huge loss :(
despite the daily mail being pump, one person did write this reply, now I havent read all the books so it may be a copy of something, but here goes
QuotePlacing his inside-out hand on Terry's shoulder, Death said, 'READY?' 'Actually, I'm feeling a bit peckish,' Terry answered. 'Don't I get any last requests? I mean, it's not as if I'm in a hurry... Besides, there's always a blinking queue, you know, up there,' he said, gesturing upwards. 'THE SANDS OF TIME WAIT FOR NO MAN,' replied Death. 'Go on,' Terry cajoled, 'Just this once. A quick detour on the journey there...grab a bite to eat?... I could murder a curry.' Stretching his mandible in a passable grin Death conceded, 'NO NEED.' Reaching into his robe he took out an hourglass and gave it a sharp tap, making the sand rush a little faster down the neck. 'I KNOW JUST THE PLACE AND, I CAN GUARANTEE, WE DON'T NEED TO QUEUE.' ....A small homage to a Great man. Rest in Peace, Sir Terry.
