Title: Public competative
Post by: SLoWHaND on March 27, 2015, 09:46:30 AM
I think I already know the answer to this one but......................

Is there any way of choosing a match where I don't end up with people that I don't understand.
The playing of this type of game relies so much on coms it doesn't  make much sense if you cant communicate with your so called team mates.
I mean I struggle with English as you all know but I havent got a chance with the eastern block dudes.

Queue with people you know is pretty much the only option, you've played with me, Dex, Franko, Stewie etc before and we play most days even if it's just one game so just keep an eye out when we're on. Lots of others on here play too, Blunt, Browne, etc

Unfortunately my pc is too flakey to play comp.
It would pee you off to have me ctd with sound-loop that means the pc has to be restarted.
Happens so regular now I daren't try comp :(

I just solo queued to play a vanguard mission and it was awful, my team died instantly ever round and couldn't hold a site to save their life. We only needed 8 wins on season for my reward drop, ended 7-15, waste of time tbh.

The link in the OP doesn't work, but besides that it's from 2007 which is before win7 so I'm doubtful it would work.
It does sound like my prob though.

There actually is a way to achieve this mate, though most people haven't heard of this. In the link below you will see a server picker, this basically allows you to pick and choose which of the Valve servers you want to connect to. So if you didn't want to connect to Russian servers, you would just "block" them. It isn't a hack or cheat so you won't be banned because of it, it basically just makes your firewall block those specific servers and forces Valve to connect you to one of the servers you want to connect to. One note though, make sure you download the file from Game Banana and not any other website. There are multiple fakes out there that just put viruses on your PC, so make sure you use the link I've provided.

However a better way of going about it if you're lazy like me is to just play with friends, if you see me online I'll usually be more than happy to do a competitive game with you.

Let me know how it goes, I'm considering getting it myself. Too many Russians on Russian servers for my liking :narnar:

Dex I used that program when I first setup my csgo properly, I picked local servers for a better ping and I cant remember the last time I played with an American so I think it works.

Yeah, I've got it installed now and so has slowhand. I've not got any Russians or Americans yet but there is still a chance that one of em might connect to an EU server. As far as I know though, it works very well.
