Title: Gta v
Post by: Galatoni on March 30, 2015, 04:57:45 AM
I'm not a fan of the series but some parts of this one have caught my eye.

Not only is it going to be mind blowingingly beautiful it also has a lot of emphasis on team work and multi roles. I can imagine that would appeal to a few here ;)

Anyone else interested?

Maybe but after the unoptimised mess of the pc version of gta4 I'm not being a guinea pig for this one. I'll wait for user reviews after release.

At least for your 40 quid in gta you get a huge game and free dlc down the road (the heists were free add on for example). For bf4 you barely get the game for 40 quid. Rockstar I am happy to give 40 quid too, they make huge games that work, take their time to do it properly, and don't bend me over in the process. Ea won't get money from me anymore :P

Post by: Galatoni on April 02, 2015, 07:34:42 AM
Depending how many people are getting it we could maybw get a board? Hopefully it won't need a leader or anything though. It would be nice to setup meetups and heists.

Quote from: ReddFour;397175Really? Did you play GTA4 on PC? I'm guessing not.

No, I played it on console, as I did red dead, gta 3, and la noire. And they were all great games worth my 40 quid.

Bf3 and 4 were both broken console and pc, and they both relentlessly overcharged for content, locking you out of huge amounts of the online from day 1  unless you pay up.

And then when I did pay gta 4 on pc, it worked, the mod support and community was fantastic, and I had a lot of fun, again.

So

Did you even play gta 4 on a console, or bf3 /4 on anything?
I'm guessing not.

Post by: ReddFour on April 03, 2015, 11:19:12 AM
I played all of those on console. I played Gta4 and bf4 on pc. Gta4 on pc was and still is one of the worst console ports I've ever played. Terrible performance compared to the console version. It took years for pc hardware to evolve before it was decently playable on PC.

For that reason I'm waiting it out for gta5. I've played a bit of it on console anyway but never bought it. But in my experience Rockstar haven't always delivered on PC. Console yes for sure but not pc.
Title: Gta v
Post by: Galatoni on April 03, 2015, 11:50:24 AM
Evolve? It was unoptimised mess. Nothing to do with the hardware.

I had more than the minimum and it still ran crap. Don't blame the hardware. Blame the publishers or coders. You have to remember as well that these thing are written and compiled on a pc before it hits the console.
Title: Gta v
Post by: ReddFour on April 03, 2015, 12:14:38 PM
What I meant is eventually hardware got powerful enough to at least run it. It still ran like crap but was just about playable if you could bear the poor frame rates.

I wasn't blaming the hardware. It was woefully lacking any optimisation at all. Saying Rockstar always deliver is far from the truth.
Title: Gta v
Post by: BrotherTobious on April 03, 2015, 01:06:17 PM
The hardware in pc was already out stripping any console on the market and has always done. As they look at the pc market to chose what to use in the "next gen"

It is to do with the porting across and optimisation.

I really enjoyed playing GTA IV in fact they have all been decent games, as long as you ignore some of the more ridiculous mini games that have been included. I'm busy working through a few other games at the moment but I've read a few PC specific reviews and this is certainly on my to buy list.

Do we have an official Crew? We should prolly make something. Whats the official lettering?

UPDATE: Just about every reasonable combination of 'DMW' was taken. The Crew is called 'DMWDeadMenWalkingDMW' and the tag is 'DMWT'. Not great but it works.

I've put a logo in place, one of you guys can possibly do better.

There is no way to directly relinquish leadership, but once people get into the group, i'll leave and rejoin, that'll let the next in line take leadership.

I wasn't aware if there is another group, so if there is, no issue... i just need to know what its called so i can apply :D

I think I was optimistic when I though I'd get a chance to pick things. The number plate is all capitals and many combinations of the name were already taken. If someone wants to try and knock up another crew with a better version of the name,  please do. Lol.

There are some sites you can get a cheap key from. The extra money is not so important as I imagine cash will be pretty easy to come by once were on and running robberies together. See what you can get a stream key for. Possible that's your best bet.

I also found it a bit unstable when leaving jobs in the online mode. Sparko and I played together for a bit and it's not too clear whether we're in the same job or separate. For example, Sparko came to the police car pound to pick up my car with me and when he entered the pound with me he became wanted and got gunned down. It was pretty funny but I can see folks having one laugh at that joke and getting annoyed. Car racing is fun.

It's funny, the story mode is like a dead pan "hood" trashy talking and just the dumbest of characters. They've done it so tongue in cheek taking the micy of about every gang or mafia movie ever made its worth it for the story mode.

You need to hit level 12 in order to start a 'Heist' mission (you can join at any level, but someone needs to start it) - these are the big, bank robbery style missions.

My usernames DannagE1983. I've joined the crew too :D

Can we get a TS channel setup so we can chat in there instead of ingame?

I think this is in the works already. In the meantime we can use the adhoc gaming channel.

I'm quite into it now. It's not normally the type of game I would go for. I watched a friend play gta 4 (or at least attempt to) but never really played it myself. However it's the humour that makes it for me. Trevor in particular is hilarious.

This post will be transferred to the main board once the GTA one goes live which should be in a few days. I'll work on creating a master list once I get chance.

For anyone interested what activities do people think would be fun to do as a group. Jamoe, I still like your idea of walking the streets and wiping out red players. Though I must admit, screaming like a girl while BrotherTobias drives was quite fun... in a hair-raising, terrifying kind of way.

We should have the ability to create our own Jobs to play, once we reach a certain level.

This sounds like the way forward, though I haven't done any research...

Vigilantes sounds fun,  will have to see what sort of stuff you can do. Looks like there is some kind of editor but I've only briefly looked.

Finally got the game working!

It turned out to be a combination of identity cloaker and geforce experience issues.

If you get the error about having to complete the online tutorial before joining friends ensure you complete the following and visit the first job afterwards (you can exit before the job starts just make sure you launch the job).

Good to hear you got it sorted out now m8!

But why use identity cloaker? These midgets will never find you then....

As Tut mentioned, there might be a bit of a spoiler alert in it.

Too bad it's money you can only use in single player, would be nice if you could use it in multiplayer.

OK. No issues at all buddy. We'll get you sorted ;) Just weird that I can't search for you. Not really positive, but it might be worth checking your privacy settings once you get round to it. Crew is DWMDeadMenWalkingDMW (don't ask! Been hard trying to get the crew name and tag!).
