Hi Tech nerds,
I am looking for guidance in order to choose a suitable wireless amp. I have a power socket and 2 speakers with bare copper cables that I want to plug into it. I can add phono connectors if I have to. Important part here is it needs to power passive speakers. There is no possibility of putting active speakers in place.
The purpose of the amp is to stream spotify and radio apps like tunein and iheart, which can also stream over a browser.
It has to be relatively light weight as it will be mounted on the wall.
I was thinking maybe something running Android because I know all I will stream can be done through an Android app but I'm open to suggestions even apple.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers,
Bert
So I was thinking how to do this and did a few google searches. It seems there are a few very small lightweight amps out there for a cheap price:
This one: http://www.amazon.de/Dayton-Audio-DTA-1-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B00OOR9SSK/ref=sr_1_1?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1428845851&sr=1-1&keywords=dayton+audio+DTA-1 (note its only $40 elsewhere)
Gripes normally surround the internal quality.
This fella: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B007VMA6OU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01
Gripes are normally the related to poor quality PSU and interference if you use this as a Digi Radio AMP but is very highly reviewed for sound.
I thought about the new gromofon Spotify Connect boxes:https://gramofon.com/index.html
Then I found this: http://www.myrocki.com/ which is a success from Kickstarter and the good thing is if you buy one for every room that has an amp and speakers or powered speakers then you can control all the rocki units with the app to play different or the same media. It is not just Spotify but other media transfer options and obviously can take media from a NAS.
So I am ebbing towards 2 Rocki boxes (one for the lounge) and one 2020A+ Class-T to power the second Rocki.
Cheers,
Bert
Ok I'll come clean (scuse the pun!)

£50 for my shower music system, the shower is plastic and speakers rigid due to being waterproof so not exactly great acoustics but it's rather nice to have sounds in the shower.
It's also a steam room! Dutch people put strange things as priorities for their homes!
FWIW, we have 3 different sound systems now that accept Bluetooth connections. Great for standard stuff like spotify and itunes or streaming from mobiles. They're all complete systems so not amp-only like you're after, but IMO they all do a pretty good job for what they are and certainly for what they cost. Caveat I'm no audiophile, as indicated by my bargain headphones ;-)
And the end product after first official use:
