I was wondering if anyone else had been jumped by pirates at a Unidentified Signal Source only for them to not attack you? It happened 3 times over the weekend.
Once was just a standard 'arrive, nothing there, pirates jump in' whilst the other two were 'arrive, free floating cargo, slow to start picking it up, pirates arrive'. In all 3 cases, after they arrive, they send the usual "prepare to die" message but then then just followed me around. The first time it happened, 6 Anacondas turned up whilst I was scooping up cargo, which was a bit alarming, so I motored away to fire up the FSD when I realised what was going on. I thought perhaps it was because I hadn't deployed hardpoints but that still didn't prompt a response. So I did the sensible thing and went about picking up the rest of the cargo and then just flew away. I was tempted to attack to see if I could get the bounty on the 6 Anacondas but thought tat was probably pushing my luck.
All very odd.
Sounds like a glitch
Usually if they leave "bait cargo", it means you come in and take the bait, then they kill you...
Seems very odd.
But i have been to a USS and found pacifist pirates... but i think you may have it, i didn't deploy hard points.. I cant really say what is causing this odd behaviour.
As based upon previous experience, they op to just annihilate you at the 1st chance, just because they can...pirates /meh
I`d submit your post to the bug forums to be honest, as it is ODD, but benefits you, not really an exploit, but certainly odd!
Fly safe out there, for their be ODD PIRATES, YHAAAR!:woot2:
Were they green/friendly to you? I've been bounty hunting a few times and my wanted target has been with a faction that I have done enough to be allied with, so they don't attack me until after i've scanned them and shot first.
Thats what I thought at first but they were just the usual 'orange' unaligned colour. I think they were the member of the Purple/Mauve (some sort of blue-red colour) Pirates something or other.
Ah well, no harm done. Next time I might try attacking them, see if I can rack up some easy bountie
This can happen for two reasons. (1) it's a bug. (2) you didn't have the cargo they wanted.
If they scanned you and left, it was (2).
The other possibility is you are in a very small ship and the new "stealthier" heat-sig of small ships worked in your favour...
