Starfighter Inc.
A new kickstarter project from the guys who brought you X-Wing vs TIE Fighter are developing a new space fighter game, called Starfighter Inc. They are describing it as being World of Tanks meets CounterStrike...in space!
Modes include a single player campaign and multiplayer co-op and they say that it will be very visceral and tactical and will support private servers.
For me it sounds perfect for being able to switch on jump in and have a quick battle or two without having to concern myself with character progression and big world politics as you would in MMOs such as Elit Dangerous and Star Citizen.

The $100 seems a decent pledge without getting too crazy. The 2 tiers higher allow dev all hands call access which is a bit far but hey devs out there may be tempted to join one.
There us actually a War Thunder dev designed space game called Star Conflict. May be worth a look, my IGN is Alberht for referral purposes ;-)
I am definitely tickled interested
Sent from my Nexus 5
Actually the $100 is really $115 so a darn T Shirt gets delivered. I hate physical rewards, they never get sent from Europe.
I'll stick with the $16 early-ish backer one.

We probably gave enough of space keep us busy for a while B-)
Looks like a nice game, gives me the feeling of a BSG battle.
I'm not going for it as there's SC, and the Backer Tier locked ships which is a practice I dislike. Oh well.

Ditto!

That's the one I took. Cheap enough to be a fail-safe for something to do in late 2016 if other plans go awry!

All gone so I'll pass.

There's a $17 one up now. Get 'em whilst they're hot! 724 left at the time of writing.
Just received the dev update #7 and, true to their 'hard science' tag line, unlike all other space sims, they aren't going to have sound in space!
They will have an in-ship sound generating system which will emit user-specified sounds based on what the ship itself would possibly be able to sense is going on around it, but the range of sounds will be limited to just a few events and, if the sound unit gets damaged, you'll have absolutely zero sound.
Sounds like fun! (Pun intended :))
A few more pledge options on there now and some $16 and $17 pledges popping up to get a copy of the final game. I am excited for them, and hope they get over the $250k finish line they need to in the next 2 weeks.
Upgraded to the Beta 6 reward. PM me if you can't get a $16 pledge for one on the extras I will get.
I'm in @ $16.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like they're going to make it to me. Nearly $100,000 to go and only 14 days left, and funding has slowed significantly.
Someone did ask why they haven't got any game footage to show, as that was what their friends were wanting to see before they'd pledge, and the devs response was that footage would come when pledges were made! Bit arse about face to me - you think they would have learned something from Star Citizen, wouldn't you?
I hope they make it, but it's not looking good.
So failed $24K short of their target. It seems that good game developers make rubbish marketing managers. Everyone was screaming out for content and a live stream, they got a review on a gaming site and the host seemed to think the Shrike was a starter ship. Clearly no homework was done on how to get people excited about a project, they relied on reputation alone. I'm sure they'll get more press from failing than they got during the kickstarter period. They'll be back.
I wonder if part of the reason it failed is that they traded on "the people who made Xwing Alliance, Xwing Vs Tie Fighter" and then proceeded to talk about a game which is nothing like XWA or XvT. I know thats what put me off - that and the whole ultra hard sci-fi MP only setting.
I don't know why I haven't bumped this before now. Starfighter Inc. has 3 days left in its relaunched Kickstarter. They are 2 years further down the development path and need just $22K more in backer pledges to succeed.

I pledged $35 which includes Beta access but $25 get's you the game and some rewards including any stretch goal items, prioirity character naming etc.
It's being hailed as a scientifically accurate space game. They're trying very hard to make it unique from the other games out there, either way I see it as another space game and I can't get enough of these.
Consider pledging if you are interested, 3 days to go!
thanks for info Albert, pledged as well, whats the worst that can happen :)
