I'm now an owner of a copy.
Finally! Congrats.
Great!
we now have fresh bait to use for the pirates :P
The manual is so bloody long... and have to figure out controls with KB+M.
Jump on TS, I can talk you through the do's and don't's .... you'll be elite in no time!
Mouse control (I found) was easier with higher sensitivity, but it really depends what other games you've played as to what you are used to.
The game works well on XBOX 360 controller too.
Always test-run your controller and settings on the training set-up first, as this can avoid costly and frustrating issues.
Welcome and we'll see you in game!
I'm a Freelancer veteran. Other space games I have also played, but not with Newtonian physics.
Although I found combat in SC relatively straightforward with KBM too.
The big issue with mouse in E: D is that its just joystick emulation by default so you have to be sure to set auto return to centre so you don't lose track of.the turning rate. It should be easy if you master that because the keys are quite easy to pick up. Just unmask self destruct and jettison all cargo as these will annoy you if accidentally triggered.

Yep, good idea.
I'll probably be buying VoiceAttack too.
I can recommend the Tom Baker voice pack. "Midnight", although there is a Norman Lovett one and a Brian Blessed one coming!
Nah, I'm not giving that guy a penny. He is charging more than VA for some bloody synth, with most details being copied from Wikipedia.. Plenty of free packs out there.
Plus, his voice packs are technically free for private use (as per his EULA), so anyone buying them is throwing money away, unless they are fine with paying money for free software.
Yep, you can legally share his voice packs.
In the future I might go for an Ivona (Salli) pack and customise responses myself.
I think the Ivona software is expensive if you just want the voice. The other integration and dictation software is what is impressive about Ivona.
I'd probably pay for the stuff Arithon is talking about before Ivona after trying out the Salli demo.
There is a custom made Elite VA pack with a voice actor...

Rather nice voice and $3, updated frequently.
I find Salli similar to Homeworld's S'Jet voice. And you have to hear Salli doing small phrases and not the default Hello, I'm whatever and doing whatnot.
Demo something like: Supercruise, engaged.
As for the HCS voice packs, don't pay for them. All you need is one exe, and share it out, as its legal to do so for private use.
You could also use Amy, which I think is what the HCS guy is ripping off, with some added audio filters.
Well, made it to the elite combat round and after over an hour running after the cobra mk3 i got fed up and rage quit.
Combat is boring as hell. Catch up to the guy some pewpew, and then we're boosting again and again and again ad nauseam infinitum.
On a side note, my hull was still 100%, and it was easy not being attacked once I got the whole blue bar and roll to move thing.
Other things such as trading and mining should be more interesting I guess.
You'll never make a living in space if you take an hour to kill each Cobra :p was he jousting with you? Break the pattern and try a different approach :)
Well, it was the master cobra in elite level training, with me in a sidewinder equipped with a laser beam.
Only way to do it is by following him and keeping him in front, him behind and shields go down insanely quick even with 4 pips in SYS.
