Commanders: There has been much discussion about the merits and rewards of mining these last few weeks therefore I suggest we all give it a try as a group.
So grab yourself a mining ship, any size, and head to Disci where Arithon and Ranaulf have been crunching on rocks the last few evenings.

(Welcome other suggestions of where to meet as long as they are near the BD+31 area so there's not a lot of travel involved.)
Cobra or a Type-6 as a miner ship?
Should be sitting on 3mil after I refit my Cobra to it's previous loadout.
Cobra is parked at Disci.
I'll bring a Cobra or FDL.
If there`s a few of us, then a type 6 would be safe (but remember you'll have no weapons).
I will bring the python or the Anaconda if really needed for some serious security.
Arithon (if he`s available) who has a clipper for mining (get rid of that type 6 shield and get some cargo) which is actually a fairly good ship for mining, but it has very weak shields (as combat proved, LOL) pricy, pretty but be prepared to run away like a girl, haha.
As for zone, well there`s a metal rich ring around, which netted me about 800k the other night with 160 ish tons of cargo, and no "bring me" missions. Yes the ship is worth a LOT more than that, but over the course of several events, it`ll rapidly chip away at this.

Found that the class 7 slot had a class 6 cargo rack (64T) so I upgraded to 128T last night.
A 45 minute session yesterday bagged 6T of Osmium, 4T of Silver, 2T of Gold and miscellaneous amounts of Uranite, Gallite, etc. at DISCI 1 low intensity RES.
DISCI has high prices for metals and as a high-tech refinery economy has all the toys in the station outfitting.

You have refinery, collector limpets (remember to buy around fifteen) with 24T cargo space, plus good weaponry for offence/defence and mining AND a 24+Ly jump range.
