Title: Matchmaking
Post by: SLoWHaND on July 07, 2015, 06:42:39 PM
Do we have a spare CS GO server that could be used in true competetive mode and play 5 v 5 on a set night?
dMw_A v dMw_B so to speak?
I do miss inter clan style games.

I'd be interested to see that, I'll certainly give it ago if the idea comes into fruition.

I'd be game for this, although I think we can set a private competitive match and just use valve's servers.

Things are moving along apace.

My minions (pesteh) are beavering away all night long to bring you a server that meets the requirements.

It will be Meathook.

It will be passworded.

DO NOT GIVE THE PASSWORD TO YOUR MATES!

If they want to play, all they have to do is register on the forum.

I'm going to be strict with this, and will issue bans to both parties if non-reg'd players get the PW.

Hopefully it will be up in the next day or two.

Enjoy.

Can we have Zeus only as the warm up?

Indeed that would be fun :D   On a more serious note though I think we need to set out two things:

Who would want to play and what would the teams be(or will it just be whoever turns up)?
The reason I ask is that the server (if it were to be like a true competitive server) would allow up to 10 people online at any one time. We need to figure out who would be using it. But we also need to figure out whether we would have specific teams for the server or if it would just be joining which ever team was in need of more players.
Which night are we going on Meathook?
We need to figure out which night would be best for everyone who wants to participate because joining the server and waiting won't work - we need some sort of arrangement for this.

Now, I'd like to be the first to say "Sign me up!" :dribble:

Thanks to mr B and your little Pesteh. We can set this up for a night other than Monday so as not to interfere with the regular session.
I dont think the skill levels are that far apart across the regulars of dMw. Perhaps people can post their ranks so as to balance the first game out.
Oh and yes I,m up for it to.

I am MG1 just hanging on with my finger tips.

I'm currently Master Guardian Elite but have been jumping between that and Distinguished Master Guardian for a while now.

Pesteh tells me the server is ready :)

Password is here (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?3363-Server-Password)

Feel free to jump on Meathook and try it out.

Please let us know any tweaks you'd like made.

Enjoy!

There are a couple of problems I've noticed. First of all the match only lasts two rounds, so you have a pistol round on each side and then you switch to the next map. But there also only appears to be 4 players on each team, I could be wrong and it could be because I went on the server alone but when I checked it out there were only four bots on the other team and three on mine.
If the number of players could be changed to five and the number of rounds could be changed to either 15, 20 or 30 (depending on how true to the competitive game mode we want the server to be) then as far as I could tell the server would be a very good success.

Max players should be restricted to 10 maybe.
Cash is usually 16000 in warm up and be able to select any weapon not just grenades. (this was aztec when i joined it)
Including that old favorite the AWP :)

Agreed, it should be 5 players on each team in order to mimic true competitive game play, I don't really mind not having huge sums of money in warm up, the main problems are the 2 rounds and then a map change as well as the 4 man per team, once we get those things sorted, all other suggestions would mainly be for comfort.

I can do pretty much any night with exceptions to that being occasional, I think once we hear from everyone that wants to play in terms of what day is best we can probably work something out.

Hello there im fairly new to csgo comp (nova4 17 wins with about 8 losses) and would like to improve in this area, I used to clan war/mix in day of defeat 1.3 which was push up and claim the map style play with unlimited respawns. which evening I can play varies a  system for working out the teams is have two random on the day captains who take it in turns picking players. and TCS crucial things for winning rounds are keeping an eye on what your close by teammates are doing covering each other with good movement and going to there aid in a firefight  don't hide round the corner waiting to see what happens be proactive :narnar:

Pesteh has been beavering away in his room, but despite that, he found time to change the server a bit.

Jump on, give it a try and please report back any issues/tweaks etc.

It's probably just Pesteh or you testing the server but I tried to jump on to the server just now and it says 1/1 (server full) when I go to connect. Just thought I'd let you know, as said I know it's almost certainly just being tested on but I thought I should mention it. I'll jump on later this evening and have a look.

Pesteh has been trying to get the numbers right, thinks he's done it now.

Yup, tried it just now and it was excellent. The teams are now 5v5 with a maximum of 10 on the server. As far as I can tell the rounds have been sorted out as well. The only suggestion I have now is to increase the warm up time to around 1 minute, I only say this because it will almost certainly end up with someone connecting earlier than others. It also gives them time to sort out the teams.
