Right lets get this debate started.
We know that it is powerfull but until we decide wether to ban it i dont think we can punish people on the server for using it.
I vote ban it with the same stipulations as the AWP
Ignoring the ban question I'd like to comment on the 'we can't punish people for using it on the server' bit.
I think we can punish people on the server when you issue a general warning to all saying that when the CTs have a 9-6 people advantage, it is taking the piss to stand on the bridge with an auto sniper popping away until your clip empties - especially when two mates stand next to him with M4s taking the occassional pot shot. The score was CT 5 - 6 T at the time. When the a player doesn't stop using the weapon after a gentle request you slap him - as I did - twice with 1hp damage. When he then makes a smart-arsed comment at the end of the round for all of the noobs to see, you slap him with 1hp damage again. All went well except with that last bit when my buyscript kicked in and I managed to slay Aga & DA. DA was the cuplrit I was trying to slap.
To the ban question - yes I would probably agree that treating an auto-sniper like an AWM is appropriate for the time being.

The first question should have been why was there this 9v6 people advantage and rectifying that.
We should have decided about this a few weeks ago when we first noticed the problem...But it can't be helped now.
So i think we need to decide about this rather quickly so this does'nt happen again.
I have no problem with it happening again - I'll slap again too.
The 9-6 advantage happened because we balanced the teams by moving some to CT, but an extra person from T switched (because they were not listening) as a new player joined CT, hence the 9-6 advantage that was there for one round. You can't legislate for it, we just react to it when it happens. However when your team has such a numerical advantage it is definitely not fair play to line peeps up on the bridge for a duck shoot with the autosniper.
Anyway, back to the thread, does anyone else support the restrictive use of the autosniper? If so, then in what form?

I think the use of that gun is the same as any other, annoying if you are the one being killed by it. Banning it like the AWM I feel would be overkill because
a) It cannot kill with one shot to anywhere but the head
b ) It takes some level of skill to use it, certainly more skill than the AWM
c) It means removing 2 guns out of general gameplay
I would go for allowing it to be used at any time other than when a team is more than 2 rounds up. So e.g. 0 - 0, 2 - 0 but 3 - 0 is a no no for the team that is winning. If a situation arises where it is 9 vs 6 and 2+ rounds in favour of the team of 6, I don't see a problem in using it. The person using it has either a) Swapped from Ts with plenty cash. If there is an imbalance, we immediately swp someone back. B) Has saved cash for 2 or 3 rounds just to buy the thing so deserves to use it.
4 rounds of ban would force these guns out of the game, as most would buy an AWP if they are able to, prices are so similar.

Given the choice, I'd probably buy an autosniper as they are almost as powerful and much more flexible. I think that's the problem. :(

It would be hard to monitor or keep track of with the 2 rounds thing...imo
What about only one on a team at any time? i know that does'nt solve this problem first off but this is actually a hard one to call. also should we not try and adapt to the use of this weapon? (as in being opposite it)
The awp is a one hit anywhere wonder but this takes a couple of shots as does the normal sniper. The other thing i have noticed is that you cannot get away from it, it stops you dead in your tracks and you cannot move.
I don't mean to contradict my first post im just looking at both sides.
