An interesting little YouTube video.
Neil deGrasse Tyson explains the history of everything in eight minutes. Unless that is, you actually believe God made everything in just under a week about six thousand years ago. I which case either Neil deGrasse Tyson is wrong or you're an imbecile.

But how did the initial field/pin come into existence, and what triggered the sudden expansion?

If the field/pin did exist when the universe was so young, what came before it..
