I'd appreciate a lift on Thursday from Heathrow if possible, could also make it to any London tube station if that helps. Obviously I'd like to see all out international travellers sorted out first, I could also make the journey by train if needs be.

Bring on LAN  XXVIII \o/ :woot2:

I'll put myself down for the LHR crew.   At the moment, based on the numbers we'll need 2 cars total.   If more people book for LHR then we might need more.

At a push I could take 4 people plus luggage, but that would ignore Pnuts and force SJ to sit between Spiritus and Othbarty for the whole journey, so let's not be that cruel eh? :P

Any other volunteers to join me on the LHR run?

Will be flying in on Thursday most probably via Luton.  Haven't booked any flights yet.

Not sure if we're going back immediately after the lan.  Missus has family in York and they want us to go up there.  Is anyone travelling back to that area by any chance?

Arriving LHR terminal 2 thursday at 11.05 with flight SK4629, leaving the 11th from terminal 2 on the 17:30 headed for viking country again.

Strongly suspect there'll be more Norwegians on those flights too.

You know, I still haven't checked if the rear seats are heated. Must get around to that some day. The front heaters work brilliantly though :p

That would be awsome! Just wondering about pickup on friday cause Stansted is really easy to get from to March just using the train and I'd rather fly to/from the same airport here at home cause it makes parking my car easier :P

It's not great for a pickup, but it is great for train connections as you're in the centre of London.   Depending on when you arrive, you could either train to March, or get to somewhere around the M25 on the north side of London and get picked up from there?  My route from LHR back to march will go clockwise around the M25 and pass places like Watford (mainline station from London Euston), Potters bar (mainline station from Kings Cross) etc.

looking at google maps I can find a number of ways to get there so I think we'll just go for it at we can sort it out later.. the airfare is 200£ cheaper this way, so I can accept being a little inconvenienced :p
and it's only the return that is from LCY, we arrive at heathrow 15 min before the other norwegians :)

Pick up shouldnt be a problem and TL idea seem quite sensbile or at the very least you can get a lift back to heathrow and then train it in to London!

Vargen, I added you to the OP in the list of travels.

On the Thursday, if nobody else grabs you then we'll swing by on the way from LHR and pick you up - I reckon we'll have 9 people in 3 cars, so it is manageable.   The Sunday should be easier, we'll just twist someone's arm if they are heading in that general direction!

A lift to a train station would be great :) It looks like the March trains are actually running at a decent speed on the Sunday this time, so hopefully just a short sprint 5 minutes up the road will do it, but if they return to normal service and morph into buses - is anyone going near a station with a fast route into London (e.g. Cambridge/Peterborough)? Need some help with transport for two.

I should be booking tomorrow (Payday), and it will either be arrivals at Heathrow (9.45 am), or Luton (2.00 pm), both of them Thursday 8th.  No return on Sunday 11th required as we'll be going up North.

Which is the best choice for getting a lift?  Luton is between Heathrow and March, but there is the time difference.  Can anyone help, or is transport to the LAN going to be an issue?

We sort of pass Luton on the way back from Heathrow to the LAN.  The main consideration though if timing, the earlier flight at Heathrow makes it much easier to align with the other inbound flights, so my vote goes to Heathrow too!

Does someone have an idea on how to go to the pickup zone from Terminal 4 to whatever Terminal number the pickup zone is at?

Have never been to Heathrow before, and it looks massive.

According to the map, we can go down to the underground station and travel to other Terminals and whatnot.

As you are early enough it would simplify things for us if you could get to the Terminal 2 drop off zone, but if not then we'll sort you a Terminal 4.  (each Terminal has its own drop off zones, pick up usually need short-term parking, so we tend to pick you up in the drop off zone for that terminal!)

Thanks for the volunteering everyone, we just about managed to squeeze everyone in but have no extra room whatsoever!

The planned pickups are in the OP.  The LHR crew will meet as usual at the MacDonalds nearby and track flight numbers in until they land.    Fish and chips on the way up seems a cracking idea again!!

Volunteer drivers to be thanked with pentiful ale at the LAN:

Gortex
GhostMjr
BrotherTobious
Tutonic
Sulky
Ninja
Tealeaf

Any chance of a lift to March train station on Sunday just after breakfast etc - my train leaves just after 11am...

Also, I don't suppose any of you could dash up to March train station and back again on Thursday? My train is due in at 17:37 and last time the taxi took about 25 minutes to turn up!

Alternatively, ...which taxi company in March is the best?

If we can carpool for that, me and missus have to catch an 11am train on Sunday from March as well.  And have to pickup tickets from station as well.

Payment in alcohol being offered.

I'm sure we can sort something out at the lan, or split a taxi on Sunday :-)

Have a good flight.  About to take a very confused dog for a walk in the dark!
