Title: GTA V update failing
Post by: Sn00ks on July 23, 2015, 04:22:37 PM
Fired it up and it started downloading the patch and gets nearly to the end and then fails with this message.
The Rockstar update service is unavailable (code 1). Please try again later or check GTA online status pages.......

So I check the status pages and everything is green. Press retry and it does the same thing again. Tried a reboot and again the same thing.

Does anyone have any possible solutions?

Boot the installation in admin mode. Worked for me. ;) Let me know how you get on.

Yep. Its an internal error code. Many people have reported that giving the application administrator privileges works. To be honest I think its more likely that the servers are overloaded.

On mine Avast was getting a false positive on the update, so I had to stop it for 10 mins to let it in and then did a retry from the above message. It finally updated.

Disabling Avast temporarily seemed to have worked for me too. Thanks Lib.

I'm having problems getting the game started and visiting the Rockstar Social Club. Are they still down?

Try disable antivirus and run it in admin mode.
