Quote from: WMD's CFORegular visitors to the forums will know that the game took longer, was more challenging and cost more than we’d ever expected but we think the end result is more realistic, more enjoyable.
Now therefore is the time to update you on what that means for WMD Members…and its good news.
The first thing to say on that is that the game is doing well. You can help it do better of course by telling your friends, family, work colleagues… and random passers by on the street … but what that means is that we will be paying our contributors well for their contributions. In fact as recognition of all of the delays we are going to pay you some of your fees upfront, over and above those actually earned to date.
The end result is that the payments which will be made on or around 28 August will be at a rate of 110% of the amounts originally contributed, i.e. that means you are making a 10% profit immediately, as we are paying you before we actually receive all of the funds from Bandai Namco. There will of course be further payments in later quarters. We fully expect the profits to be substantial for everyone as we’ll be paying them for years!
Good news for members!
I like it when developers send me both the game and money!
And in this morning's email:
Quote from: Slightly Mad StudiosSlightly Mad Studios Limited sent you â,¬49.50
Result!
reading this prompted me to check my email and voila exactly the same - Touch !
Another delightful email received!

I'm sure I said this last time you gloated about getting paid my them, TL.....nobody plays it! It was seriously promoted by certain errrhem, unethical investors in the game and unceremoniously dumped of interest by same said people!
Whilst I have tolerated the game since buying it for near full price, I would say next time a game is touted so much on our forums I'll look a little deeper before reaching into my wallet.
Dirt Rally seems nice so I bought that.
Enjoy your payout ;o]
I think that's a wee bit harsh there Albert. It did not turn out to be as popular as I hoped, and racing is not as much fun if you are not racing others. In that respect it failed, but FWIW it is still my favourite of the current race sims. I'm sorry if you bought in mid-2015 and did not get enjoyment out of it. I backed it in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed it, albeit that it did not have the longevity within dMw that I had hoped. The game clearly did sell though or they would not be sending me a share of profit.
Sorry TL, I was rather direct with my comment there (unethical part was BS). I'm not criticizing you or any other backer for helping the project out and making a few quid out of it. I would say however that it wasn't exactly given the same attention on release that the pre-release hype generated when there was an opportunity to get involved back in 2011/12.
So we as a community and especially those initially promoting it within the community perhaps could have done more to make this an actual supported game. I hate it when I hype about a game (7 Days to Die is an example) then move onto other games rather too quick and others are left to generate interest. I suppose the difference here is, P.Cars actually made money for the folks hyping about it. You can see how it can seem a bit a like a sales job.
I actually don't recall a single dMw race every being held on the server after the official release date. I played against publics several times and then the interest dried up completely. It's just a shame because it isn't all that bad a game.
And another â,¬18 received this morning.
That's â,¬95.04 received so far. Despite the game not proving as popular as I thought it would be, it's a real delight for it to be delivering profit to early backers!
This is getting slightly silly, I got another â,¬16.20 this week! That's â,¬111.24 so far from the developers...........I wish all games were like this!

I have gotten twice that!!! Superb!
....and another â,¬21.01 received from WMD devs. Happy Christmas all early backers!
What even is this lol ?

It's a game which was crowd-funded a while back, where the terms were that you got a percentage of the profits post-release. It was quite a good sim imho, but it never really took off within the community and most people seem to prefer Assetto corsa or iRacing these days. But this game obviously made money and it keeps sending cash back to my Paypal account, so who am I to argue!
It seems to be doing quite well on PS4 as servers are normally busy ish (probably xbone too I would guess) and no doubt will probably sell very well on the console side coming up to xmas, not sure if you guys get paid from the console versions though?
Iirc it was total profit we got a share of, wherever on whatever it was played!
Happy days then, should be a nice boost in sales for you guys
It's sweet to see you backers get money back like that. Pretty nice deal!
Sorry to say it seems PC1 and PC2 will soon be de-listed on all digital platforms. License expiry probably due to not having the cash to renew having given it all to dMw backers :busted:

On a serious note, if you want PC2, the deluxe version is on the site allyouplay.com for a few quid. Plus both of these titles are Steam Deck compatible therefore I actually get to play PC1 again!!!
Cheers,
