Title: CSGO Server
Post by: Browne on August 05, 2015, 11:17:46 AM
For the past 3 or 4 months, we've been seeing an huge influx of new faces on Boomer, thankfully,  a renewed interest in CSGO, you could say.

However, there has also been a serious deterioration in the quality of the Boomer server. Memory leaks on client machines, FPS dropping to 10-20, really low reg.

Memory leak:  After 10 minutes in game, my FPS drops to 10-15, have to re-start, fine for another 10-15 minutes, drops again. This could happen twice on one map alone. My memory usage shoots from 2.4 (normal for this rig), up to 4.4 each time. I play a fair amount of competitive and, hand on heart, ALL other servers are fine, never any FPS drop. Bear in mind that competitive could be 30 rounds. Also, this has been experienced by several others, Pesteh, Gunda, to name but a few.

Low Reg: I know that CSGO is not renowned for having the greatest reg, but, when you know you've pumped half an MP7 mag into someone's back (my favourite approach) and your console reports 30 dmg in 2 hits, there's something wrong somewhere, especially when you see his blood splashing all over the place after the supposed "hits".

Whilst it would be very easy to say "sod this" and bugger off to another server, I value what we have on Deadmen, friendship, the craic with the regulars, normal whining, I'd miss it. So, any chance of an upgrade fellas? I, for one, and there are others, would be more than willing to financially support a move to an upgraded 128 tick server.

Whatever it takes

Well said, i'd be happy helping with a couple of £ a month for an upgraded CS:GO box :)

The box is fine, guys. But we do have an issue and we *will* get to the bottom of it.

For those of you who don't read all the forum sections you should be aware that we've been struggling for months to get a Toxikk server to run as designed. Only this week we found that our firewall was the root cause. Without testing I can't say for sure but I'm betting that there are issues caused by the firewall that are affecting all our hosted servers in one way or another.

It's not simply a case of running without the firewall - we would be daft to do that.

At this time we can only apologise for the poor service and to thank you for your honesty and the generous offer to contribute funds. We do have people looking at this and hope to get to the bottom of it as soon as possible.

I can't say for sure but all our traffic goes through the firewall and the firewall is causing weird things to happen to Toxikk so it might also be affecting other games but, obviously, not to the same severity.

Do you know what the issue is? I assume you guys have resource monitors or something for the server? Can you take a look from around 8-9:30 today (28/8/15)? The server was crappy then.

Resource monitors show that we are hardly touching our resources during these problems and what you are experiencing is variable - ie Thursday night was very good, Friday night was bad - but the same stuff was running on the server on both nights.

We are continuing to scratch our heads on this one.
