Title: CS:GO Tips and Advice Exchange.
Post by: Eat Static on August 28, 2015, 07:40:51 PM
Lets exchange tips and advice to help each other get better at CS:GO!

I think my number 1 piece of advice would always be stay quiet! :P
Especially towards the end of the round when there are less players around, making even the slightest sound can give away almost your exact position to another player! So always walk when trying to be quiet. But lots of other things can let others hear you as well, including reloading, getting your knife out, picking up weapons or the bomb.

Another tip that now springs to mind is don't always reload straight away, partially for the reason above, as they can hear you and it's normally better to have less bullets in your clip than to reload and give away your position. It normally only takes 3 bullets to kill someone after all! And I've lost count of the amount of times I've killed someone and instantly reloaded, just for another player to come around the corner and kill me in the act!

To add to that, if you are low on bullets and someone is close, it is often better and quicker to switch to the pistol than to wait for the reload.

One thing I see people do now and again is crouch-move around a corner. It's not a very good idea to do this as you move around the corner so slow, your knee and gun stick out and the enemy sees you way before you see them, resulting in death.

And I'll leave it at that for now and leave it open for others to join in, I will look forward to hearing other peoples opinions and tips :D

Some Weapon Tips:
Glock/USP-S: Slow down your shots, I see a lot of people firing as fast as they can in order to unload their whole clip into someone but they tend to forget that if it is a pistol round then the USP-S and Glock are both capable of killing in one shot to the head. Slowing down your shooting means you can take time to aim as well as meaning that your shot is inherently more accurate.
Deagle: Aim for the head and shoot slowly. That's about the only tip for the deagle as the only reason you'd want it is for the "one deags" where you one shot someone in the head. Crouching helps at longer ranges as it decreases your size (harder target) and makes your shots more accurate (the deagle isn't exactly great for accuracy).
P90: As mentioned above, don't reload straight away, unless I know I'm safe I'd usually wait for my ammo to drop to around 20 before considering reloading.
AK-47: It's a powerful rifle and so has a powerful recoil. Spraying will work but only if you can learn the spray pattern, there are lots of tutorials online on how to counter the recoil and effectively control it so have a look at those. Tap shooting is also a valid option however I tend to fire 7 or 8 shots at longer ranges instead due to the recoil pattern's first half being quite simple. EXTRA HINT!!! Don't move while firing if you can avoid it, anything you've done to help accuracy will go out the window.
M4A4/M4A1-S: Both have their advantages and disadvantages and are quite easy to use, and you need to remember that you'll go up against AKs which can one shot so to counter this you need to employ techniques like prefiring spots or simply just 15 minutes a day of deathmatch to practice with it to improve your skill with the weapon so that you'll have an edge over possible opponents.
AWP: Don't move while shooting, even the tiniest movement can cause your shot to go well of target. Like the P90, don't reload until you have to. The AWP has 10 bullets, all of which will quite easily one hit kill. If you find yourself reloading quite often then you're using it wrong. I would aim to kill 8 people with my 10 shots (the 2 others are allowing for misses). EXTRA HINT!!! If it comes to it and your reaction time/accuracy isn't great, switch to the pistol at closer ranges. One miss with the AWP will give them more than enough time to put a bullet through your skull.

- Happy Hunting

Not only with actual in game noise but with comms, it's very distracting to have someone either talking about an off topic subject or even trying to tell you how to play. Just imagine yourself in a clutch situation and you have someone talking about the latest episode of their favourite show while you're trying to listen for footsteps. (fun times)

Silence is Golden in some MM servers these are a few console commands that are great if you are feeling anti social or just want them screaming gits out of your ears.

From my autoexec

voice_enable "1" // ensures voice is on when you join server.

bindtoggle "X" "voice_enable" // toggles voice on/off

Where "x"=is your desired key

// NO CONSOLE MESSAGES

bind "X" "ignoremsg" // toggles messages on/off etc
Where "x"=is your desired key

// NO RADIO MESSAGES

bind "X" "ignorerad" // toggles radio messages on/off
Where "x"= is your desired key

I know most of you will probably know the voice enable but the other 2 I only discovered them recently and they really help take away the distractions when your the last man standing.

A good decent headset.
If you balance it good enough, you can hear people moving and using all kinds of things. A good headset is an easy way to win (and which will get you called a hacker sometimes).

EDIT: Also, I used to remember all the combinations to buy the weapons and such but the thing is, you can no just select rebuy...

Here are the binds that you can just put into console.

Buy bind generator: http://csgobuynds.com/buy-binds-generator.html#/
Crouching: bind "key" "duck_tog"       For example, bind "j" "duck_tog"
Walking: bind "key" "walk_tog"          For example, bind "p" "walk_tog"

If you're planning to bind these to the mouse then I'd assume it would be something like bind "mouse4" That's an example, you might want mouse5 etc. "duck_tog" Again, that's an example and could be replaced by walk_tog etc.

One thing though, I wouldn't recommend using the crouching or shift walking binds because unless you press them really fast you'll find yourself dying because you're too slow to turn them off, making you an easy target.
Hope that helps

to toggle mute on or off with a single button, paste the following in your autoexec.cfg

// toggle voice
bindtoggle j voice_scale

- substitute j for a key of your choice.
- voice_scale 0 sets the incoming voice volume to 0 - this way your team can still hear you rage.
- if you want to also block outgoing, use "voice_enable" in place of "voice_scale".

Should autoexec.cfg not exist, create it using the path below (usually within your main steam directory)

\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg\autoexec.cfg

+exec autoexec.cfg needs to be added to your csgo launch options - if you find it's not working, try "exec autoexec" in console.

they did, it was mentioned in the patch notes http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2015/12/13325/

\Steam\userdata\yourid\730\local\cfg

details on how to find out your id, among other things, can be seen here https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3xci8w/fyi_the_default_config_folder_has_changed_please/

cl_join_advertise 2

If you ad that to your config it allows players on your friends to see and join community servers you are playing on
