Title: Why not make meathook public?
Post by: Sparko on September 11, 2015, 02:31:58 AM
Any reason why we don't have meathook as a second pubby server?

Maybe just have it open for a week or so to see how it goes, we are pretty much full every night now on boomer which is ace :)

I know we have a competitive setup on meathook but can we not make it a copy of boomer? Admins can join Ts and point people in the right direction if one server is full...everyone is happy :)

I'd be happy with this solution, I guess part of it depends on the amount of dMw/randoms on at the time, on some nights the vast majority of people on boomer are members of dMw and there are only 2 or 3 non-members who are usually regulars. This means that really we'd be isolating our regulars and only freeing up a few slots.

The trouble is, 'randoms' on Boomer very often turn into regulars and occasionally into dMw members.

I don't mind splitting the players over 2 servers, as CS:GO is ideally played with around 5 v 5. (providing we have enough admins)

But, Boomer is only rammed for a relatively small percentage of the time (I may be wrong, if someone has stats, that'd be good)

We only know about people unable to join if they also join TS, so there may be loads more that we just don't know about.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Yeah I see what you mean

I was more thinking, if a regular (non member) see's boomer is full they may go elsewhere? But if we had 2 servers up they may check the other one and join that instead...which could potentially pull more people in too.

It's just we barely use Meathook very often really and it's there to be used, so we may as well make use of it.

It's just an idea anyway guys :)

We used to have our main CS night on Meathook and every other night on Boomer, it was a good way of making sure there was at least one night of quality CS with everyone knowing our standards and it also encouraged regulars on Boomer to sign up on the forums so that they could get the password for Meathook to join in the members only fun night.  If Meathook was full then the overflow went to Boomer.  It did cause some issues with players leaving Meathook to play on Boomer if their mates were on there and vice a versa but in the main it seemed to work.  It sounds like you may have enough regular members playing to make it work again?

meathook has been back on boomer's config since Monday, just need to get maxplayers increased - the password on meathook is easily disabled if needed.
