Title: EE - do you have a phone with them?
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 13, 2015, 08:43:00 AM
Serious enquiry here.

I need to ask a question about the availability of historical data linked to an EE mobile phone.

Questions:
Can you log in to the EE online system and get a record of which numbers you sent texts to within say 2015.
Does the bill show the number you sent texts to?
Can you download old bills from the website with this information?
Does their website allow you to download the content of texts? (I know this one is unlikely but I thought I would ask)

If you can't do the above via the online system, could someone try to see if it is available when you call EE and speak to them direct?

If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.  Thank you.

i'm on EE and i have itemized billing every month so i  can see what calls& text were made in that month.
u can download a pdf of your paper bill online.
it does show what numbers were called or texted and call duration.
i think u can only download the previous months bill.
u can't download content of texts tho.

hope that helps you tl.

Do you automatically get sent bills or are they only online?

So there's no reason why someone would not be able to get copies of bills showing the numbers to whom texts were sent for the period e.g. Feb - Jul 2015?

I'm asking as someone is telling me they cannot get these records, whereas I understand that the European Union's Data Retention Directive says that all telecommunications data in the UK is kept for a minimum of one year (not sure if that covers bill data, but I assume it does).

Thanks for the info Sneaky, it's very helpful.

Hang on, I'm not sure that's right - or at least it isn't for me.

I can go online and see my bills back to Jan 2015:

but when it comes to viewing them, it only shows the calls made. There is no reference made to texts. This is the same regardless of whether viewed online or downloaded. I think it'll show you anything made outside of your allowance but apart from that I don't think so.

I can view my bills back as far as 01/10/2013

Like ST says, you see the time and date, and the number of each text.

EDIT: my bills are .pdf and exactly the same as paper bill.
In light of Pen's remarks, I've just checked and the earliest bill and I can see all details of texts as well as calls.

Could it be that Sneaky & Blunt have 'itemized billing' option whereas Pen does not?  Could that be the difference?

If you do not have itemized billing, could you recover that information from EE for a charge?  (it would be helpful to know what they charge as I might offer to pay the fee in this case).

Apologies for what might sound silly questions, but there is a very good reason behind this.

Many thanks.

OK PM'ed with transcript as per telcon.

edit: Checked and I don't have itemised billing as I have unlimited calls and texts and don't think I need them. Only calls made outside of my allowance are itemised.  They can retrospectively pull any bills, itemised or not, and itemise it for you for a small fee.
