I have a question about making maps.
At work we use a program called Arkey. With it you can make walls and stuff and also add textures to it and you can also make an excellent 3D from it. Could it be somehow possible to covert this drawing into a mapping program? When it’s finished it are drw-files (drawing). At the end I can covert the drawing to a DXF or DWG if I wanted to.
Any ideas? I also started using AutoCAD again but my 3D isn’t yet good in that stuff. Is it possible from AutoCAD drawings to convert it? I heard that when you use AutoCAD and 3D VIS it was possible for a game (I don’t know which 1).
Greets Pete.
Bumping to get above Strider, I posted mine first. ;)
you should be able to create models for games with most commercial 3d programs I
think. I forget the details of the actual 3d formats required, but I do know that 3dsmax
links into bf1942 and mods quite sell, but you need werid conversion tools for CS mdl
files.
If u want an excellent (and free) modeller, try Blender http://www.blender3d.com/ (http://www.blender3d.com/) - then get these plugins: http://scourage.servebeer.com/programming/blender/index.html (http://scourage.servebeer.com/programming/blender/index.html)
