Title: Pick up in Sussex?
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 17, 2015, 01:52:52 PM
Silly question, but is anyone coming up from Sussex and able to pick up a valuable cargo en route?  There's a small brewery based in Sussex who don't even have a delivery van at the moment, but we wanted to get a keg of one of their real ales up to the hotel for the LAN.

If you have room for a keg, let me know asap please.

Sussex - both of them - are big counties. Where exactly do we mean?

It's way too far in the wrong direction for me I'm afraid, but if anyone can get it as far as Cambridge (or anywhere north of the M25 for that matter), I could probably find room for it.

If no one else is passing I think I'm doing a Cambridge> Chessington> East Grinstead> Cambridge run on the 6th so can probably accommodate but depending on the length of those client meetings potentially the pick up won't be until after 4pm.

Go some way to ameliorating my unavailability for airport pick ups if nothing else. Besides it's far, far more important than picking up some hairy-arsed Norwegian. :flirty:

That would also work.  PM sent.

I'll see if I can manage to get some Maltese beer from airport departures, if they sell any.

If there's no beer, perhaps some prickly pear liqueur.

Many thanks to Penfold for doing this pickup.   Although tbh I think we should reserve judgement to see how much of the keg of Black Cherry Mild is left by the time it reaches us at the LAN.

You're just lucky I drink Cider. Although I will be having one or two of these intriguing new ales.

I guess, putting my arse hat on (is it ever taken off you say), we should reiterate that these are being purchased by the hotel (regardless of any external subsidising) and as such we're keeping to their rules on not bringing in your own alcohol.

Invariably there's always the odd bottle of something snaffling around the LAN room but subtly and moderation is the key please. We also need to make sure we're keeping the bar active (not hard given the combination of the domestic and Scandinavian demographic methinks:flirty:).

So, please, no going to the bar asking them to open that keg of beer you have hidden in the boot of your car and mainlining it straight to your LAN place.
