Title: Mission: Operation False Dawn
Post by: TwoBad on September 19, 2015, 10:05:49 AM
Operation False Dawn

Enemy forces have launched a surprise attack in the south of the island and have taken control of Feres Airfield.  Your team must recapture the airfield before the enemy has a chance to bringing in reinforcements.  Your first mission objective is to take control of a hit top observation post overlooking the airfield.  From there you will call in airstrikes from an A-164 Wipeout (CAS) flown by a member of our team.  We will use a Laser Designator to guide in LGBs which will take out any mobile AA and armour.  This will open the way for our ground assault.

This will be a weapons free mission but there will only be a very limited supply of shoulder launched missiles and there is to be no indirect fire used by our forces at any time.

Seemed a good mission, shame the trigger didn't work properly as the mission showed great promise.

Only issue I have is that as I'm playing on the laptop as I'm away I still think that we should be able to have the ability to turn of the grass, I struggled to get above 15-20 fps.  Yet when we tried the hostage mission with turntable off grass I was getting 30, even I the town, is it possible you could unlock it again please so I can turn off the grass next week

Thanks, already fixed the issue and tested on our server and all seems to work ok.

Please don't get me wrong here sulky as i do have sympathy with low FPS, however;

I also feel you need to take a little bit of responsibility to get the game running as best it can on your systems first.  As we all know Arma is not the most optimised of games and not making an effort to get the settings right for your rig will only harm your experience.  I have previously said about ensure the graphic settings are correct.  With my own rig (which isn't the best in the world by any stretch) the game says it wants to run high settings but this gives me appalling FPS.  I make just one change and straight away i get up to a 50% boost in FPS and i really don't notice any difference in the detail.  You said you were running on a laptop at the weekend and it was the grass that was killing your FPS yet when i asked what setting you had on just one of the graphics options you were running higher detail than my desktop.

So for the moment, grass stays on.  Let's review at the LAN and you can show me the problems you are having.

As my case is on the small size I went for one of these, and it is a full powered 970.
