Lan XXVII - Packing List & Instructions Thread

This thread is to provide you with a packing list so that you remember to bring everything you should bring to the LAN along with a guide as to how to ensure your steam is up to date and that you have the relevant patches / map packs etc.

Please make sure you  have all the map packs and such installed from the Workshop the two below are very important.!!!!!

CS:GO Workshop Page (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=184448520)
L4D2 Workshop Page (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=164908628)

IMPORTANT:
Do this ON THURSDAY NIGHT ABOUT 10.00 PM. IF YOU DO THIS FRIDAY MORNING YOU MIGHT PICK UP A STEAM UPDATE THAT NONE OF THE REST OF US OR THE LAN SERVER WILL HAVE. THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE LAN GAME!!!!

Thursday 10.00pm
1. Connect to the Internet
2. Start Steam
3. **CRUCIAL** If you DO have the 'do not save account details on this computer' checked then enter your password and UNCHECK THE BOX. If you don't you'll loose your password details from the login screen and will not be able to play CS at the LAN **CRUCIAL**
4. Log onto Steam
5. Click 'Exit' on the Steam menu and quit Steam
6. Disconnect from the Internet
7. Start Steam and when the dialog box appears click 'offline mode'
8. Make sure Steam starts and you can fire up CS
9. Exit Steam again
10. Try restarting Steam again.
11. Run a complete Anti-virus scan.
12. Go to bed
13. Wake up
14. Go to the LAN
15. Buy Ninja and Brother Tobious a Pint or two

In a nutshell just make sure you can connect to Steam without being asked for your password. If you are asked to type in your password you're not going to be able to play at the LAN

One monitor you say Toby! :D

Spares are a great option for the LAN as there will be someone who forget a critical or something dies. If you have some spare kit or something you want to be rid of bring it to the LAN if you have the space. Normally a headset our mouse will go pop and someone will really appreciate the loan.

A wired mouse and headset it pretty important too these days as I had a really bad experience with my MX revolution last lan as too much interference in that room from all of the other 2.4GHz kit. If you want frustration free LAN experience get a wired one.

Other items such as XBOX controllers are always in demand so if you have a couple bring them, just make sure you have a stick or something on them so you can claim them back at the end of the weekend.

Toby do we need a spare PC or do you have this sorted?

Cheers,

DZ.
