Hey guys we talked about changing the dead talk option on boomer last night.
My idea was to have dead talk on only for limited time lets say 5-10 second so u can give ur team a quick info about the call out or enemies position, than we won't bother any1 after that,
Any suggestions? Or any1 knows server configuration?
Thx Peter
I like the sound of this but I am one for removal of it completely

Lol auto correction
deadtalk was enabled to match what is used in competitive games.
As far as I know, the toggle is either ON/OFF. no time limits can be applied. But I will double check.
in-game comms should be used for tactics and call-outs. save the banter for TeamSpeak.
There's a plugin out there that achieves what you describe. We'll test it and if it works will roll it out on Boomer.

Thats fair enough but I'm used to the rule dead men dont talk and being told where the badies are from beyond the grave, is not something I like, but will put up with.
I am sure is some config for it when I paly on esea pugs deadtalk is on for 5 sec,
Whether something 'can be' achieved and 'should be' are very different.
It's really Blunt's call (along with his admin team) if it's something we want to reinstate. However, as Toby pointed out, historically we do not have dead talk enabled so that people can't reveal enemy locations which seems to be what you'd like it enabled for.

While I understand the arguments for not having dead talk enabled, in particular because it's a relatively new thing, I do also understand Franko's (and in all honesty my own) point of view. In terms of making boomer more competitive for players dead talk is essential, the competitive game mode makes great use of it so that your team mates can let you know how much damage is done to them/rough positions so that the surviving team member(s) can decide on tactics based off of that and their own instinct. If a mod like the one Franko has described were introduced I'd be all for it, getting information from your team is invaluable when it comes to being competitive and having more fun because of it. It also means that some people who might not JUST give information and try and tell you how to play or just have an off topic conversation could still have those conversations without distracting those who might need to listen to footsteps etc.
I think introducing it on Meathook might be a good idea, we've already designated it as a server for competitive games so it's not like we don't have dead talk on already. It also means that we can test it without having to worry about interfering with the normal procedures on Boomer so that if we don't take to it we can just head back there. Plus we don't use Meathook that much anyway, so in the end we're getting competitive styled games, more use out of Meathook (rather than leaving it to gather dust) and if we like/dislike it we can implement/not implement it to the main server (Boomer).
I'm just giving the background, it's your call how you guys proceed :)
Dead Men Don't Speak.. simples
Getting info from dead team mates is crucial to the game, i for one would miss it greatly if we turned it off again :(
However I am probably guilty of over talking while dead and just think we all need to be more disciplined to respect those still alive and only give pertinent information.
Im sure this was raised 10+ years ago ....

yeah in true match making style the death camera is on for about 5 secs after you have been killed it is a vital few seconds to relay info. Years ago the death camera used to swing around to show where enemy you shot from.........I didn't like this one because it gave good camping positions away.
The team speak side of things can become one sided as not everyone is logged into it.
Then the ghosting accusations start.
People just have to have manners and not speak over the live persons game.
Agreed, I wonder if there is a way to have dead talk on for text chat but not voice chat. If so that would solve the problem of people talking too much, after all we are meant to only give the essential information.
bindtoggle j voice_scale
add this to console or put it in your autoexec.cfg, as mentioned here http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?41570-CS-GO-Tips-and-Advice-Exchange&p=403259&viewfull=1#post403259 (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?41570-CS-GO-Tips-and-Advice-Exchange&p=403259&viewfull=1#post403259)

I can assure people (as Slowhand knows) that TS is never used for in-game tactical comms.
There may be a taunt, or a gloat, or a question about someone's parentage, but never for ghosting.

I completely agree with you there Blunt there is no ghosting at all on ts it is used as you said.

TS is just for trash talk =P
I guess this comes down to if you want to play for "realism" or "competitive".
I for one am not fussed either way, I just miss all talk at half/full time.
Having always played CS competitively, I've usually always used TS (once upon a time cs had no voice comms :)) I think your solution is to try and get people to type after the initial death call, it wont always work and some people just seem to have verbal diarrhea regardless.
I had no issues with dMw's original rules btw though I'm not really one for talking using comms much anyhow...
The main problem is that you will get people that will (probably without realising it) try to tell people how to play, I know it's a definite problem in the majority of matches I play (on and off dMw) and I also know that I sometimes do it without realising it until someone turns round and says "Oi! You! Shhhhhh!!!" :ranting2: That's why turning voice chat off and chat on or just having voice chat enabled for 5 seconds when you die as Franko suggested would improve the player experience for both competitive and realistic game-play. It means you can say the vital information but then don't get a chance to be annoying :D
This is a little off topic, could we consider using this command on the server: sv_auto_full_alltalk_during_warmup_half_end 1
Rumour has it that it enables all talk during breaks again which I am sorely missing
Pesto enabled it the other night somehow:) Gud times

I've just fixed this, all talk should be enabled again during breaks ^
So what's the consensus? I feel like it can get pretty noisy when the server is full and would prefer dead talk off or perhaps for a short amount of time after death.

I agree. If there is an option for "deadtalk" to be on for like 5-7 seconds after death or something, that would be awesome...
