Yet again the lan team and the community gods have pulled of another great weekend

A huge thanks to all those involved in making yet another great LAN.  It can sometimes be all too easy to forget just how much planning and effort is needed in the weeks and months leading up to these long weekend.

Also, a thank you to all those during the weekend who provided helping hands.

And one final thank you to Ninja for transporting me safe and sound to and from the LAN.

That's me home as well.  Thanks to everyone for making it a great weekend, especially Toby and Ninja for organising the event and to OB for all the work setting up and running the LAN server.  

As well as catching up with the regulars it was nice to see some new faces (other than Pesteh who shot me all day yesterday) :D

Had a great time and it was good to see everyone again and in some cases for the first time. Thanks for making it a fab weekend guys!

Thanks again for keeping it all ticking over guys, and for ferrying this monkey to and from the station :D

yeah another great lan finally got got about an hour later than planned after the aa guy sorted out my bro's car, turns out it was flooded.

Indeed another awesome LAN.  Thanks to the organizers for making it all happen!

Thats me home about 25mins ago and I have to agree with all the previous posts and say it was a fantastic Lan once again!! Fantastic work as per usual by the admins and as Vargen said big thanks to everyone who went out of their way to give us strange internationals a lift to and from the airports!!

Having finally shaken off the terrible plague I was afflicted with at the LAN, I'd just like to say what a great time I had despite feeling run down for most of it - Ninja and Toby once again going the extra mile to ensure everyone has fun. Cheers guys :)

Apologies to all those new folks who I didn't really get to talk to, hopefully I'll get a chance to meet you properly at a future LAN when I'm a bit fitter :D

Generally we prefer if you have played games with us or know one or two people that vouch for you.   But as a member you are more than welcome to attend mate and as you know Uni.

Supporting members get first shout on spaces, so there's a good reason to sign up right there :)

At the end of the day I don't want to Intrude I am new here after all, and I don't want to ruin your events. I don't want to get out of place and I worry is all. I have spoken to uni this morning and most of it was talking to him about the LAN and what happens there, it sounds like a great event but I don't want to be the person people don't want there haha. Like I said I am new and don't mind waiting before I look at going, it was just because I was talking to uni about it. I joined becaus ei wanted to meet some new people and play games with more people. LAN was just a event that sounded good and something new that's all, sorry to be a pain to you all.

I guess I best start giving this group money then ;)

Well make sure you want to get involved in dMw first :D A subscription is nice and helps pay the server bills but it is entirely voluntary. We wouldn't want anyone to feel they had to pay. Tutonic is right you would get first dibs on a LAN slot as a subscribing member, plus a few other goodies.

We really encourage people to come along to the LAN which is as much about putting names to faces and making new friends as it is about actually gaming. Our next LAN is in April so there's plenty of time to get your feet under the table.

Well I don't mind giving money to this group for the servers I feel like I would use them and would love to stay in this group for the foreseeable future so becoming a supporter is something I don't mind at all. I am a worry wart I always worry about things and this is why I am being annoying haha. I just don't want to try to go if there are people that are better off going there like people who have been in this group for a few years like uni, I don't want to take the place away from someone more deserving.

I do want to join in more as well just doing it slowly, because at end of the day am still nervous but do want to play with you all , I love playing game and the chance to play games with some decent people sounds amazing haha. Also might learn a few things from you veterans :D

I'd just say 'stop worrying'.  We're not exactly a frightening bunch and the best way to make your mind up is to talk to our members on TS whilst gaming.  You'll get to know people, make friends and that then makes the 'should I go to a LAN' question moot, as you'll know by then that you WILL definitely go to a dMw LAN to meet your friends!

I know you not scary haha .... Well I don't think so currently ;) I have just signed up to support the group due to me hoping to be here for the foreseeable future, but hopefully I will get to play and talk to more members soon I hope. But thanks anyway :)

Check the LAN section further down in the forum, the dates are published there.  LAN XXIX is April.  The anniversary LAN  (LAN XXX) which should be huge is October.

I guessed and got the dates wrong, I forgot about the early Easter.

If I were you Rogue, I'd try playing a few different games with us, join TS if you like(but be active on comms).

If you decide to do the LAN, try to turn up Thurs, or early Friday for the best experience (and to avoid being stared as as you bumble in with your stuff falling out of a bin-liner)

You could always bring her along.  Some of us do that, and there's usually a couple of women to keep each other company anyway.

The Jacuzzi, pool, and sauna rooms also help.

Haha I do like this group you lot are all awesome and always say something useful :) thanks a lot everyone. I will do blunt says for now, there might be someone better to go anyway who people would prefer there then me so I will start to talk to people more on ts, I am just on at a awkward time normally, that's what I was talking to uni yesterday, but I got the day off today so will try to stay in the ts bar maybe and talk to a few folks.

I will ask about bringing her sand see what she says, sadly she doesn't really like gaming or if so only like games on then wii like Marino kart and super smash brawl. But it's a case of asking her really, she don't really like me playing games to much and j understand that, don't get me wrong she never tells me to not play then haha she can't control this rogue ;) but will see.

Some of us go to the LANs as socials (generally October), were we hang out with mates, drink, and have a laugh.

I'm sure she'll be fine.  Mine had a great time.

Maybe i have to ask her later on when i see her and see what she says lol, she might surprise me and like the idea or she might not which is what i expect but will have to see, i am glad yours enjoys it tho :) she might enjoy ti its just something we never done before and i want to meet some more people and just have fun lol i am a boring lad because i have never gone out really at night lol never been to a nightclub i don't mind the casual drink but its something i would like to try to boost confidence, since i am trying out a lot of new things recently :)

The Spring LAN is ideal for you then. This is typically smaller so less intimidating. I quite like it as it's got all of the usual events. Especially for Toby and I it's a more laid-back weekend.

I asked and she said no anyway so just me haha but i don't mind, I like the idea of it being a bit more laid back so be great to put faces to the voices I am yet to hear lol :D

Hi Taylor,

As one of the team in charge of coordinating the LAN events, I can say safely that you should be fine for the Spring LAN.

I can see that you are a supporting member (thanks BTW) and as a supporting member you get to register for the LAN ahead of the rest. Also, the Spring LAN's (as I said before) are slightly more subdued. IIRC we've not had to turn anyone away yet.

That's you ever so much ninja I just wanted to make sure I am more the happy to support a great group with some really friendly and good gamers in it. I didn't want to book the time off work then find out I couldn't go haha that's was all, but I appreciate you getting back to me and reassuring me on the matter.

Also I got a badge for supporting this group so I needed to really haha I need something under my name :flirty:

Apart from that I will book them both off and see what happens I know the second one will be busy and I imagine all the long term people would want to go to that and not us young noobs, but I need to book next years holidays now sadly because that what my work likes to do lol

We've played it at the LAN a couple of times now, its quickly become a crowd favourite!

I don't think there's any need for you to bring your own deck, but you can totally join in to any games that kick off :)
