Guys,
Myself and Tuna have been testing hosting an in game steam server for us to use on FSX Steam Edition.......and guess what! it actually now works :yahoo:
The game play is so much smoother and you can see every aspect of other users aircraft (i.e aircraft mechanics such as flaps, reverse thrusts, landing gear movements etc..) and the in game models dont seem to look ridiculous like in other multiplayer environments.
I plan on leaving the server up as we have already tonight had quite a few pubbies join and ask about the community :)
if you want to connect to this server you should be able to see it in the multiplayer browser in game. The server at the moment will show as //www.deadmen.co.uk (as i am limited to characters and wanted to get the forum address in a noticeable place, there is a 'server description' when you join too)
I would be interested to know how other people find it when connecting and what they think of the experience so that we maybe able to sort something long term.
Cheers

Awesome news!
That is brilliant news, well done you two! I love that pubbies have joined us on the server already, perhaps we need a welcome post or something?

Hi,
Jarlev and me have also tested this several times and it just started to work properly in the last patch.
One thing you could do if you want to see the planes from a longer distance is this:
Add smallpartrejectradius=1 to your fsx.CFG file under the scenery section.
If you already have that line then it may be set to 4, just change it to a lower number.
1 seems to work ok for me.
[SCENERY]
smallpartrejectradius=1
I can see small planes at much further out now.
So i have spent the entire day...yes since 1000 this morning sorting out fsx se...had to re-download all the orbx stuff, as i haven't been on orbx's website since i bought all the addons which worked with box but not with fsx se...so now fsx se is supported i am now scenery wise running orbx global, england, wales, scotland, norn iron, eire and uk2000 heathrow, manc, liver, Edinburgh, Belfast and Gibraltar x..... now for the aircraft.
if you have issues with the installers finding fsx but cant locate steam edition(se)...look here 4th one down, it helped with some of my older aircraft
