Title: Concierge Black Card
Post by: TeaLeaf on November 07, 2015, 09:42:13 AM
I'm intrigued by the pop-up events and meetings.  Wonder what and where they will be?

QuoteWhether you’re flaunting high fashion on the runways of Prime, Terra or cozying up with a bottle of 2733 vintage behind the velvet rope at the Goss’ Million Mile High Club, the Concierge Black Card has your back. Showcase your involvement in making Star Citizen’s crowdfunding a success with this limited edition, wallet-sized metal card. The Concierge Black Card, available exclusively to high-level backers, is more than just a token of your dedication to the game: it will provide VIP access to future pop-up events and meetings. Don’t leave your hangar without it!

Did seem a bit vague. They'll likely give access to some in game features as well. Nothing game breaking which is nice.

I got mine with mixed emotions. Shame and joy. ;)

Seems nice just wish they concentrated more on getting it all built :)

They could always stop all community feedback and go dark for four years.  That would get it built quicker.

But that might not be what people wanted after all.......!

Sneaky, I'm sure if you say whatever you have to say in a considered and coherent manner then nobody will be knocking on your door to lynch you.

I'm still confused about the qualification for concierge membership.

I can see a total exceeding what I was told is the amount (I'm a subscriber for quite a while now, not just ships! [bit of self justification there!]).

But I'm still not concierge material.

I've send a ticket in to support.

Agreed.

...but I'll have the rope ready, just in case. :)

I believe it's $1000+ in pledges.  I'm not certain, but perhaps subscriptions don't count towards the title?

Also, if you've gifted anything, that doesn't count towards the total either.

It was confirmed by an admin that they do contribute. It's no different a pledge than a ship package.

Well, I inderstand the sentiment echoed by many people, but we have to bear in mind that to build this game through to the end will cost in the region of $150m, so the current $94m isn't enough (although I believe that they have secured alternative funding) and they need to demonstrate continued income in order to satisfy suppliers and service providers. Not only that, but we're only 3 years into develpment,Mao there's at least another two years to go.

Additionally, have you seen what's coming in the next week or two?  If you haven't been keeping up with the news, Alpha 2.0 is now being 'crunched' on and they clearly expect to drop it to the PTU either this coming week or the following week (the latest weekly report actually says that they hope it is the last one).

An early version of Alpha 2.0 was demonstrated at CitizenCon, and from what they have said, it's had a lot of additional work, and a lot of additional content added to it: 30 'starter' missions, NPC pirates spawning at the borders of the map to keep you corralled, FPS will be included (but not the stand-alone Star Marine module), along with additional 'hidden' assets for explorers to find, new IFCS flight modes, multi crew ships (including the Constellation, Retaliator and Cutlass) as well as new ship UI for Avenger, Cutlass and Constellation as shown here:

I think another aspect that you may not have picked up on Sneaky is that RSI merchandise tends to be on a cost basis, not a revenue raising basis.  It's more something to keep the troops happy rather than trying to raise another $.

If you haven't ordered one yet, be quick about it as they are about to stop taking orders on Saturday (if I recall right) due to overwhelming orders.

Yep, it's for Concierge members only I'm afraid.

Theres been a bit of fuss on the CIG forums (that's new!) with people complaining that Concierges, or orgs with a concierge member, can Simon,y buy loads of cards for their friends and they and their friends can all get VIP entry to events.

This is not true: only Concierge members who have purchased a card will get the invites and their name on the door list. Not concierge, or concierge without a card? You don't get an invite.

My issue is I've gone past the mark for concierge months ago and never seen a change in status. I ticketed it 2 weeks ago. Their support is really lacking people I think.

Hmmm... That is quite bad. Is there any info on what actually counts?
Title: Concierge Black Card
Post by: albert on November 15, 2015, 12:28:58 PM
Every post with admins responding in the forums suggests the total amount on your account is what counts. I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise. I totaled up my pledge amount and there is nothing in there that corresponds with ships bought from other players and gifted. When I melted a connie and bought a Hull C it came up as zero spent so nothing unexpected there.

When you say 'status', to what are you referring?

The only visible difference I think there is, is that the Concierge button lights up in 'My Account'.

Could you already be Concierge but just didn't know it?

I hit concierge a couple of weeks ago. The change was immediate. I could access the concierge forum and the concierge button on my account became active. I haven't gifted or received anything so all my purchases are still on my account.

The button is not illuminated. I was expecting that to happen when I passed the required pledge amount. That happened 2-3 months ago.

I must admit I'm considering selling my larger LTI ships and cancelling my monthly subscription. It's not that I don't believe in the project, it's awesome but I feel uncomfortable with my investment right now and I can play the game with one or two ships rather than 6. The lack of customer support is also a factor. I've politely chased it and still no reply.

Post by: Obsydian on November 16, 2015, 06:46:06 AM
Wrt customer service, they are running a couple of weeks behind because they are swamped with support tickets right now, and have asked that people don't resubmit tickets as they simply add to the workload.

Apparently they are working through them in the order they were submitted, and will treat them as of the date they were submitted so as not to disadvantage anybody.

So I would suggest a little more patience on that front.  But if you want to sell some ships, I'm sure that you could find a good home for them quite easily.

Post by: albert on November 16, 2015, 08:14:25 AM
I know they are busy, they like to communicate that which is great but I spend less on my travel ticket to work each year than I have on the game and despite being a "believer" (maybe not as hardcore as some) I normally get a response from NS the train operator here if I feel their trains are too congested and want to complain.

It's just disappointing given they 1) released an exclusive item that 2) required certain status with 3) not enough support staff or foresight to predict that a lot of tickets would be raised as a result and 4) disappoint people like me who are normally patient and calm about these things. I lose out because of their administrative oversight of my account status and their lack of customer support timeliness.

Can't you see why I would be disappointed? This isn't about my impatience. Selling ships is a separate matter only fueled by situations such as this.

Oh, I can definitely understand why you're disappointed.  My 'patience' point was more about waiting for the backlog, but I also understand the frustration of waiting on what would seem to be a simple answer to an easy question.

If you do qualify for Concierge, I'm sure they'll add you to the list so that you don't miss out on getting a card.

Yes I got a card ordered. A CS person called Kaiktlyn spent decent time yesterday working with their web team to get my account seeing an in stock product. Before yesterday it has been 1 reply every 2 weeks then once the initial problem was solved, 1 every 5 days and like busses, 3 or 4 in a day.

Not to my knowledge.  You can get as many cards as you want, and give them to whomever you want, but VIP invites will only be issued to Concierge backers who have a Black Card.

So if you give one to a friend they won't get any benefit other than owning a card.

At least, that's how I understand it.

If you hold it up to the light at a certain angle, you can see your player name, it's tricky to see in daylight.
