Title: Dash-Cams
Post by: Blunt on November 12, 2015, 12:12:11 AM
I'm after a dash cam, but I've never had one before and don't know the 1st thing about them.

Do any of you have any experience with them?

I see that they vary wildly in price, but I am not interested unless it's a quality piece of kit.

I'd also like it to be unobtrusive and neatly wired.

I'd want it to have a fair sized memory, G detection, and to switch on and off automatically.

Any Ideas?

I went to dogcamsport when I bought mine.

I bought a mutlifunctional one i.e. which isn't poermanently fixed to the car but which can alos be used on bikes, skiing etc but they helped and gave good advice. Similar to this http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/dogcam-bullet-r.html

RoadHawk was popular when I was researching mine. It can also be used with a back camera in case you want both front and rear cover.

Thinking about it, mine may be a little old now so here's a more up-to-date list :

I like the look of this one myself. .

That looks pretty cool, I like the rear-view.

It comes supplied with a 4m cigarette lighter one (or it's an accessory) nothing hard wired though apparently.

All the ones I've seen  need power. The better ones turn on automatically when the engine is started but some also stay on 24/7 to record any hit 'n' run incidents.

If this is what you're going to end up with then let me know and I'll see if we can get a discount for two :flirty:

I see the lead in the picture now.

I'd like the latter option with it able to be on 24/7 as and when I need it.

What's the value of a dash cam? Purely to fend off the litigious society? (serious question)

I want to 'go viral'.

But yes, I am a careful driver and I see so much idiocy around me....
