Title: HP OfficeJet Pro X
Post by: TeaLeaf on November 14, 2015, 09:48:40 AM
I'm looking to get another printer for an office i use a couple of days per week and am considering the HP OfficeJet Pro X range, specifically the X551DW as I do not need copier/scanner facilities.  The equivalent with scanning/copying is the X576DW.   They also do a cheaper range with the X451DW and X476DW offering the same facilities but at a lower print speed.

I print a lot of reports, often with tables or colour charts, duplex is needed and I like the idea of lower running costs (toner costs are ridiculous imo) and the speed looks good with no loss of quality, but I am concerned by some reports I have read online about their reliability.   Does anyone have any experience with this type of page-wide print head injets and in particular the X range??

There are a lot of cashback offers going around for this too, so it seems pretty good value (£170) for a printer with these capabilities, but if it breaks then it's not worth it!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I owned (it got sold on Ebay) an HP Office Jet Pro 8620 which is in the range below the one you're looking at, so I'm not sure how relevant any comparison would be? It was a damn fine printer and had the crucial feature of there being plenty of 3rd plenty ink cartridge providers. For me this is a main buying feature as I was picking up perfectly decent ink for about £3-5 a cartridge. Again I'm not sure if the fact that this XP printer was decent has any baring on whether the XP Pro's are equally as good in their range.
