Title: Elite For Cheap
Post by: albert on November 26, 2015, 11:57:29 AM
Guys,

Since yesterday and until December 1st Elite: Dangerous went on sale from 30 GBP to 10 GBP.

And it just so happens that the discount Elite: Dangerous owners get on the pre-order for the 'Horizons: season 2' is exactly 10 GBP.

This means there is no longer a reason to wait with buying E: D and stacking on the expansion (for a free ship considerably better then the starter ship and a bunch of free skins for your ships).

You can order it from the Frontier themselves here: https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerous-cat/elite-dangerous.html (and get a Steam key in your settings panel).
Or you can buy it on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/359320/ (and create a game account after, with which you can pre-order the expansion on Frontier's site).

Enjoy!

Don't forget the free black skins for pre-ordering.

Also a lot of the other skins are on sale for Black Friday.

Picked this up on Steam last night - £10 looked like a good deal to me.

You can buy the game for £10, if you like it, pre-order Horizons and get £10 off, so you get the game now, Horizons on release, a bonus ship, bonus skins for all ships and all for the same price of Horizons if you bought it after release.

Bargain if you like the game. and £10 isn't much to test the water.

I'm not sure what you're getting at Arithon, I've already bought the game on Steam for £10 - I thought the DLC was another 10 on top of that?

I don't know anything about Elite, I'm just going to jump into the world and have a good look around :)

Oops, I got it wrong then :). So it's a tenner off the 2nd season (it's not straightforward DLC, it's far more substantial.).

So I jumped on last night and ran through a couple of the basic combat tutorials.

Mouse and keyboard felt very twitchy and difficult to control. Gamepad was better, but still a bit clunky.

I'm not ready to put down cash for a joystick, are there any tweaks you would suggest?

Add me (Arithon) to your friends list and when I see you online, I will jump on TS. I'll walk you though anything you need help with.

Controllers aren't a problem and if you like the game, a T-flight thrustmaster is £34 from Argos.

Would any one like a late night game tonight on here we can get together and have a good meet up at the base and maybe learn a few things from each other ? Like tips tricks and preferences ?

As far as controller go I would make sure you add to the controller two button that pushed together will one activate and deactivate landing gear and also frame shift drive as these are need In the world, like me I use the left on the arrow and push B to active my landing gear. Landing is hard but you can get better with time even tho I still suck at it lol

I'm in Breda in Netherlands drinking nice beer this weekend. But tomorrow for sure and Monday Beta is released for Horizons but I'll avoid that for a week I think.

Smart plan I will leave it out for a week or so I don't want the bug in it to ruin the experience for me, and no worries will have join you in the universe soon tho, I still need to find our main base

I use Queeg for awkward button combinations. I tell him to raise or lower the landing gear, alter my power distribution, enager wapr drive, deploy chaff, etc etc. He's quite useful, means I don't have to remember too many buttons.

So far it's all a bit dull. I'm finding the missions frustrating as it appears to be mostly aimless wandering trying to find someone/something, and trading bores me to tears.

Not sure this is the game for me, but I'll give it a few more hours to see if it picks up.

Personally tut, and this is just from my experience I always preferred to play with a friend on his to do things, I am a hunter Nora lily so o go off to a resources extraction site and have a good old hour of hunting down bad people and getting a good amount of money fo doing this, I have done it on my own and it's just not the same it's more of a grind but with a bit of music or a podcast in the background it still pretty fun destroying other ships with the security forces.

I would definitely say give up on this game just yet maybe try something different is all. I would be more then happy to join you when I can I just first got to get to the main base of the Dmw then I cAn join forces with you :) if you want that is ,I know I am still new here and haven't play with many people but the opinion is alway there :)

Starting to become a bit more adept at moving around the galaxy, but finding a way to earn credits is proving to be tough!

Randomly stumbling across some bad dudes earned me enough bounty to upgrade to an Adder with a bit of extra cargo space. I even managed to worth out a trade route which would earn a little bit of dosh, but I got interdicted on route and blown to crap by an 'expert' rated AI - not exactly cricket :(

The experiment continues - I'll jump on TS if I can, but until my house move is done in a few weeks time my opportunities for TS are limited.

Well, the Thrustmaster T-16000M (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ThrustMaster-2960706-Thrustmaster-T-16000M-Joystick/dp/B001S0RTU0) is currently going for £23.43 on Amazon and I believe it regarded as a pretty damn fine piece of hardware. I remember ordering one for about £40, which was the cheapest around at the time, but then realising I had the X45 in a cupboard and cancelling.

Some comments and a link to a YouTube vid about the stock and Elite on the HUKD (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/thrustmaster-t-16000m-pc-joystick-23-43-amazon-free-delivery-2339918) site.

I use Thrustmaster T-16000M and can very much recommend it. Plenty of buttons for important things, comfortable and very precise. I use similar set up in Elite like here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTaWDpw3108

https://www.frontierstore.net/eur/games/elite-dangerous-cat/elite-dangerous-horizons-dlc.html bit of a deal on the season pass. Given it was double this price.
