Wow, that's a quick Beta! They must have made hundreds of fixes in a week. I did read through some of the patch notes and the list was endless.

I have to say, the buggy thing is rather nice. I'm just bricking myself about taking my Anaconda down to a planet surface a bit on the fast side!

Also backup your controls if you played the Beta, save risking having to remap everything!

I believe the same date as 2, so they skipped releasing 1.5 entirely and merged it with Horizons but if you don't own Horizons you still get the extra ships from 1.5:

So they went the whole 9 yards, live stream, servers offline, prizes etc.

Then in the evening the Horizons and Ships 1.5 updates were all live. I think by 9pm the server status was a green OK, with a few niggles early evening.

I opted to uninstall the game entirely to get rid of the GBs of Beta folders. Then the download wasn't too fast so I never got on last night.

Any feedback so far on the game?

Last night had download speed issues as the servers were melting and there were more players online that I have seen in a considerable time.

The game was amazing. Great framerates, improved audio and a bewildering array of new mission types.

I'm still working on my Imperial Rank, but for the couple of hours I played last night, I liked what I saw and I didn't get the chance to land on a planet!

Could you elaborate pls?

Also slightly OT, does anyone know when the horizons cheaper price promotion for owners of elite ends?

I'm not sure but I'd imagine they will allow the cheaper price for a while, certainly it won't be discounted too early as a general discount.

Updated the 32 bit a few days ago and all was well, bugs sorted. So decided I'd buy Horizons after all.
Upgraded to 64 bit on ED. Then d/l and installed Horizons. Now nothing works.
Frustrated and I have a gut feeling that all my ED data will disappear and I'll have to start
from scratch. Bah Humbug!

You shouldn't lose anything. All your data is stored server-side. So unless you run the game and clear save, your ships and money are quite safe.

If you installation is foo-bar, click on the launcher support link and select "validate game files" from the menu. That may well sort things out.

Or you may want to do what I did which is uninstall and then install Horizons 64-bit straight. There is an uninstall option I found in the options on the loader screen.

Thanks guys, the Christmas Fairy did a re-install of Horizons and 'File Validation' sorted the 64  bit ED.:yahoo:

Exactly what I did Bob, works great now. I have to say I really am liking the planetary landings. It's sort of quite a nervy moment when you come out of super cruise into the Glide state and it says your at too steep a trajectory. I imagine it's scary in a small ship.

I want to master stealth flying to do some of the smuggling missions, 4 million credits reward. Arithon advised me that there is no chance of completing them if you are planning on just doing a dash for the letter box, there's always a ship waiting to scan you.

Can't you just do the usual high speed entry to avoid scanning even though they are lurking?

That is still possible for normal belt and breeches get into port. But when not getting scanned could earn you 15 mill CR and they drop a cop at your tail when you come out of super cruise at the station, you have to go silent.

They've made it interesting for sure.

The particular mission was smuggling to an outpost, but when you arrive (after a 19,0000 Ls trip) a Viper spawns right behind you. If you get this mission have chaff ready and as soon as the little tike spawns, chaff and boost to the outpost and land before the so-and-so gets another scan lock.

I didn't have chaff equipped on my Asp, so 300Ly + 19,000Ls trip wasted and 3.9M cr lost!

I read a bunch of posts yesterday and everyone stated that chaff has no effect on saving you from a scan, you need to go silent immediately and the non-cargo ships, the smaller the better are more likely to get through.

Anyways, Elite: Dangerous is a tenner https://www.frontierstore.net/eur/games/elite-dangerous-cat.html and there's a tenner discount on the Horizons expansion!
