Title: dMw Christmas Fly in 2015
Post by: Sparko on December 18, 2015, 12:43:37 PM
THE DMW CHRISTMAS FLY IN WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY 30th DECEMBER

dMw's Christmas fly in for 2015 will be from Oslo, Gardermoen in Norway (ENGM) to wherever we fancy...

Any pilots interested meet on the server and TeamSpeak around 19:30 GMT ready for take off at around 20:00 GMT. server details can be found here (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?40345-FSHost-info-and-download-details)

I thought it would be a good idea to decide what we would like to do on the night and come up with a destination, suggestions are welcome if anyone has any ideas.

Before joining the server be sure to have all air traffic turned off otherwise you will see AI aircraft on the ground and in the air.  Also please make sure you have read the server rules (here (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?40374-dMw-FSHost-Server-Rules)) so you are aware of the do's and don'ts.

Also if your new to FSX this is a great opportunity to come and learn the basics, im sure any questions you may have can be answered.

I hope to see you on the night, if you have any questions feel free to contact me or one of the admins or reply here :)

Sounds fun.   I might need to reinstall FSXSE (ot the PMDG 777( though as it is currently crashing (CTD) whenever I take the 777 out for a spin.

Dont worry too much about that TL we can use the FSHost server so people can fly what they want with minimal issues and use which ever version of FSX they wish.

If everyone has SE and plan to fly with a plane they don't have any issues with I can host a server, it is better and smoother but I'd rather people fly what they want to

Looking forward to it.   Just need to start turning some things off, now that I have all that Orbx stuff installed I am hitting my first OOM errors, so I might need to start monitoring VAS use and turn stuff off accordingly.

The only time I get oom is with the 777 and the q400 I just crank the setting on gfx all down 1, that seems to help, although since getting orbx fsxgo I've had none

im confused :P

if we all have and are happy to use Steam Edition i would rather host a server for us as its more stable and less 'juddery'

But if someone doesnt want to use Steam Edition then thats fine we will use FSHost :)

FSXSE here.

If you don't have FSXSE then go spend £4 for it on Steam!

Thanks for organising a great evening of flights Sparko!

Started off with a flight from Oslo to Alesund, then from Alesund to a couple of local airports with difficult approaches and short runways.

At the start of the evening at Oslo it was snowing, as seen here, with Vobler's twin prop sporting a go-faster sky-blue stripe and my 777 in the Air New Zealand Hobbit livery.

On the climb out of Oslo, with other aircraft queued at the far end of the runway awaiting clearance to take off and join the flight ENAL (Alesund).

Cruising altitude, 20,000ft and approaching the more rugged western mountain ranges.

Midway through the descent checklist at 11,000ft, overlooking the snow-capped mountains.

14.1NM to MITSU for the turn onto final for landing on runway 25 at ENAL (Alesund).

Approaching the west coast of Norway's mainland and about to turn towards ENAL runway 25.

Safe and sound at ENAL.  As usual, we did it the dMw way (our own way) and ended up there with a couple of 737's, a 777, a Beech and an F-18 and someone thing else I forget.

I didn't take any screenshots of the next two flights (other than the below) which were done in smaller twin-prop aircraft, but they were two consecutive short 10 minute hops from Alesund, both into really short runways with awkward approaches.

Award for Landing Style: goes to......Sulky, for this landing in what appears to be an A380, although I'm pretty sure that you should land on (a) the wheels and (b) the runway.   He's sure to blame someone else though! :getmecoat:

All in all it was a great evening of flying and fantastic fun.   Thanks to all those who showed up, to Vobler for the 'Alesund flight tour' and most of all to Sparko for organsing it!

Thanks all!  :dmw::thumbsup:
