How do you pronounce that? I'm almost breaking my tongue saying that. :narnar:

BTW, it does look like a decent game.

Yes we used to play the rpg game as well and still do on occasion if we can get enough people together, excellent fun, very easy to lose characters though!

Yeah as you can see from the dates of the posts I have been waiting for this one for a while now. I'm a big fan of the mythos and if they are true to the genre it will be an awesome game.

It finally got released and made it to budget bins before Xmas, where I picked it up.

I like it. But...

It's very linear - you have to do A, then B, then C, rinse and repeat, ad infinitum, which takes away a lot from the game.  OK, I came to it from playing Oblivion which is about as fas as you can get from the game-on-rails format, but it's annoying to have gone through a section of the game and then be baulked because you didn't notice a tiny section of wall you had to press to open a door to get to a switch which revealed a lever in another room which released... You get the idea.

All of which is a pity because the look and feel of the game is excellent - the claustrophobic town of Innsmouth (so far), the surly inhabitants, the complete and total lack of any type of HUD, the use of sanity to affect your health - all conspire to bring the work of Lovecraft off the page and onto your screen in a recognisable fashion.

Because it's a more of a First Person Adventure in the style of the old text-only adventure games, the narrative structure (for me, at least) gets in the way a bit.  It can be frustrating, to say the least.

Still, if you find it going cheap and you're a fan of ol' H.P. I'd recommend it for a few hours diversion from your usual pixie, racer or terrorist lifestyle.  You might just scare yourself...
