Title: Building locations at the keep
Post by: Penfold on February 02, 2016, 02:26:31 PM
Just a friendly note to point out that if you build a structure in the woods then the natural resources will not respawn.

I know we're getting crowded-ish at the 'Keep' base but with buildings being built more and more on the hill top the resources are getting rarer and rarer :)

if you think you've messed up some resource nodes it can be undone by removing the structure.

If the wall needs moving let me know, I destroyed some of it and decided to move the (now wooden) away from the hill enterence because of this very reason. I'm kind of seeing it that there might be a bit more danger traveling deeper in the forest and you may die, but it would be better for a localised death than a nasty preditor within the keep killing many dinos (mainly Alphas)

Does this affect dino spawns also? Haven't noticed any Dino's spawn in somones house.

Who's is the thatch structure at the top of the hill at Mother base?  Pic attached.

The Forestry + Resources Commission have asked for its demolition and relocation please.

Of course you're entitled to a full refund of materials used on request.

My understanding is that it effects all types of spawn nodes. So yea it should stop dinos spawning. Which is handy if you don't want them spawning in your base :)

I'm not sure what the distance is but I think it can be set in the server config.

It's also worth noting that Pillars won't stop things respawning. Although that might have changed?

Edit: seems you can temporarily set the re-spawn radius to 0 and have everything re-spawn, individualscan then cut back for aesthetics. Doesn't really solve someone effecting valuable resources.

This would be why Grimm had a Brontos head in his front room.

:roflmao:

I think it's just foundations, dino gates and fence foundations? (with a fence on) that stop spawn nodes. I'll double check and edit if needed.

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/3wl7hh/what_structures_block_spawns_and_what_doesnt/cxx1grt

* Foundations as everyone knows, block building, resources, and Dino spawns.
* Pillars block building, and will block a node if placed precisely but do not block resources in a radius like foundations, unsure about dinos.
* Pillars with with a ceiling however do block resources, dinos and building.
* Fence foundations do not block resources or building, unsure about dinos.
* Fence foundations with a wall on it however do block resources, but do not block building, and again unsure about dinos

I'm unsure whether the pillar one is right, perhaps it's 1 pillar high + ceiling tile.

I think that's Gibbo's. He's unconscious in there at least.
