Hey guys, I mentioned in TS that there's at least a couple mods out there that could just greatly improve some aspects that are being neglected what with the constant push of new content the dev's are working on instead of going back and constantly re-iterating stuff that's already in and working, just not working in a fun way (lol)
First up, this mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=506506101 (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=506506101)
Simply updates the beacon loottables to include more recent stuff instead of double water jar blueprints.... I know.... It's tagline is literally beacons worth risking your life for, and that's exactly what they should be, it also updates the cave loot tables so that they also don't reward us with a cooking pot after fighting nearly endless amounts of snakes and spiders and BATS. I don't particularly see the harm in this, since it just encourages people to go out and have a sniff at the colours that are appropriate for their level, and if its a near suicide mission for a red drop, but we get something fun, not something like a grenade, then I think its totally worth it...
I think its also a nice way to get people more comfortable for taking some risks when fighting dino's, knowing that sure they might loose that nice green set of armour (or blue if you are grim) but its not like they wont ever see a rare armour again, because at the moment its unrewarding that it inflates the few wins of loot that we have got.
I think that's it actually haha, sorry thought there was another, I think Jamoe found a nice construction mod, can't remember what it was now though (soz)
Lets hear what you guys think though, I think this is a possible alternative to upping the total difficulty level just yet, since that would be the alternative I guess? Work harder to slay serious alphas?
Its not a bad idea. Its just with so many of us on now, i'm not sure if improving the existing loot is the right way to go. We already have basically everything that we need now. If we were to make the game harder before doing this or do a server wipe, maybe.
Please note - i'm not suggesting doing a wipe.

Thats why I'm trying to think of ways to make the games content actually rewarding, do you even remember our loot from the first cave runs we did? Besides the artifact it wasn't worth the stress at all, and it keeps people away from venturing out I reckon... well they might do it once, but a second time? what's the point?
I think it's a good idea, Sith.
The risk/reward balance has to be right to keep people interested and, from what you're saying, it obviously isn't.
is it possible to up the item chances whilst keeping blueprints rare and making the caves give the real good stuff.
The problem being that if we start getting a lot of good stuff in blueprint form, then it may actually have the opposite effect. People may stop doing things because the high end blueprints are readily available in the tribe.
It might be a bit of fine tuning.

At least on the bp side the scaling up of materials req / quality of bp, can easily mean its not worth crafting something, it ramps up the mats cost so far i know something horrible, even slightly better primitive bp's for saddles we've got are shockingly pricey compared to the stock ones...
This mod's last update was for Ark: 222.7 (eeeeewwwwww) so I'm a little dubious that there might be some bugs floating around since then, I've downloaded it and run it locally on my singleplayer with zero problems, but there's noway I'm risking a prob that could affect everyone..
Alternatively, we could snoop about in the devkit and see what its like editing those files?
