Hi guys,
It's with great sadness that I inform you that my friend and yours Andy, aka CrazyR1 passed away this week.
As most of you would know, Andy had long been battling with MS and had to hang up his wheel last year due to the debilitating nature of the disease.
He always loved his time racing on Lfs and enjoyed the banter on teamspeak and regarded you all as good friends and was truly gutted when he couldn't race anymore.
I would like to thank you all for making us both feel so at home here.
Kevin
Kevin so sad to hear this news and thank you for letting us know. My thoughts are with his family and you.
He was at the first LAN I attended and was a good man and a great racer.
Take care mate
Toby
Very sad to hear this. I keep typing things to say about him...but It all just sounds wrong...
All I can say is, he brightened up many an evening for me when I came on TS, with his friendly nature and great spirit. I had too many fantastic racing battles with this gent to count.
I will (and had been) missing him very much! He honestly inspired me.
so sad was an absolute gent to race against...thoughts with you and family
Aww crap. Such a lovely man. Thanks for letting us know, Kev.
So sorry to hear that Kev. Sad news indeed
Very sad, condolences to all who knew him.
Terribly sad news, condolences to his family and friends.
That's awful news. I remember meeting Andy at the LAN, he was a smashing fellow.
My condolences to you Kev, and Andy's family.
Very sad news. I met Andy several times at the LAN's. It was great to sit and chat with him and the racing guys over a pint or three.
Sad news indeed, another fallen member to remember. We'll raise a drink to him at the next LAN I'm sure.
Thanks for posting this kev. Like many of the above I met Andy at LANs and he was always great fun, someone who enjoyed life and had an infectious sense of humour. Please pass on my condolences to his family and friends, I know he will be sorely missed.
I bet Andy has his wheel out now though and he will be posting purple sectors all the way. RIP.
Devastating news. Andy was Mr Reliable both in DeadMen racing and in life. He was always on TS each evening for a chat and he never ever gave up in a race. I will repeat what I posted on his retirement.

I'm sad to hear that you can no longer race. We go back some 7-8 years and you were one of the best racers around and after we met at the LAN, I concluded that you were also one of the nicest guys around. How the hell you managed to control your car with just a joystick I'll never know, I know I tried at the LANs using your setup and never got near to your lap times.
I also never got near your ability to refuel,(mostly cider I recall) and you always raced for the laughs, especially in your wheelchair. I cant picture you without seeing a bloody big grin on your face which was infectious. No doubt you've trained the dog to get you another 'cidre' from the fridge, and if you have, have one on me.
Keep in touch, remember I know where you live.:D
Andy was generous, (he sent me his Logitech Pedals when mine packed in, as he said he didn't need them!) and was a great supporter of Children in Need (Having his locks chopped off), brave, He rode on an adapted motor-bike in a downpour and amused us with his comments on the difficulty in stopping the bike if your legs are u/s. I know he kept his beloved R1 in his garage, long after he could ride, lets hope his spirit has the twist-grip fully open.
Thanks for your friendship Andy.

Yes, absolutely nailed it. Nice one, Bob.
My condolences to his family and friends. A top bloke taken too early.
Guys,
thank you all for your kind words, well said bob and thanks for the photos mate, great memories.
For those interested his funeral will be at medway crematorium on Tuesday 1st March 11.15 with the wake being given held at southern valley golf club after. Everyone is more than welcome though I appreciate that not everyone is local.
His family, have asked that instead of flowers they would prefer people to donate to the Ms society or k9 partners in his name via John Weir funeral directors medway.
Or they can donate online here:

I'm very sad to hear this. Andi was always there in good old LFS races and he always had a smile in his voice.
Can't find the right words

Posting this on behalf of Ben (Jamin) who no longer has access to the forum.
Quote from: JaminI'm truly saddened by Andys passing. I think of him often, usually when I need a kick up the arse over getting things into perspective. A true gent.
My condolences to his family and friends, and to you Kev, you were a good friend to Andy.
I'll be on the dMr server this Thursday night if anyone wants to have a race in his honor.
Absolutely gutted to hear this. He was such a gent , always happy no matter how much he was suffering.
I cant think of the words to express my respect for him.

That's a lovely tribute Bob.
Some great pics too!
I'm sure we'll be raising a few glasses in tribute and memory of Andy at the LAN.
I too am having trouble finding the right words to say. (and for those that know me, i am never at a loss for words).
I never got to meet Andy in person, but for the few years i knew him online, Andy was a hell of a guy. Always there for a race,
And never anything bad to say about anyone. I will surely miss you sir, and thank you for the great company, and friendship.
I am proud to say that i knew Andy CrazyR1! :byesad:
