I've mentioned to a few people that in our family we have a a fossil collection. I finally took a few pictures and will post them here.
My dad would take us on holidays towards the UK and collect fossils on the beaches and at quarries. He was always looking for them at found so many that he'd start trading them also.

Display-case with a fossilized plant, fish, shells, ammonites and for those playing Ark, check out the trilobites.

Ammonites.

Some belemnites down on the left, in the middle a Mammoth tooth and more ammonites.

A few shark teeth.
The pictures above were taken at my mothers appartment.
At our previous house we had a shed filled with fossils but due to my mother moving we had to get rid of a large part of the collection.
Still loads around in the Timmerman family which I'll show on the next part.
Wow that's a huge amount great collection there guys

Fossilized fish. My dad traded this one for some large ammonites he found. The 3 brothers; King, da_Ricci and me all have one.

The biggest ammonite we have (68 centimeters) and it's at my place. Moving this thing is just a pain in the .... back.
My dad found this one together 3 others of similar size and swapped them for the fishes.

Mammoth-teeth I have at my place.

A 1,- Euro coin as reference, some shark teeth and a spear-tip.

An ammonite cut in half, this is how the inside looks like.
My nephews (Brian and Kevin) were the other day in a small museum and wern't to impresssed about the fossils they saw there, they only said, we have bigger fossils at home (and they didn't mean their dad).
It felt a bit the same like the fossil shop in March for me.
That's a great collection Pete, I'm jealous.
Brilliant collection there duvel. Me and gf love fossils and find them very interesting and they can just look awsome like some of yours. We like to go to Lyme Regis and go to a beach there called Jurassic beach there a lot of fossils are found down there

This is just a small part of the collection. So much more around, we had to store a lot away.
We have been in the Dorset area also, still have a picture from my dad being at the Durdle Door area.
For our holiday's we used to go to the Whitby area (Robin Hood's bay area) also.
Still need to do a holiday collecting some fossils again sometime.
Wow that's fantastic. Lovely Collection.
We have a small collection but nothing to that scale (or size) - those ammonites are huge.
That Jurassic Coastline in Dorset is great isn't it. Durdle Door and the bay next door you cant just kick over stones and find all sorts.
Here's a selection of my favourites. Pales in comparison but I'm fond of them.

TL's got a lovely Amethyst well 'cave' is the best word which is beautifu
Got to love fossils, great collection there Pete. My childhood holidays started with an interest in fossils and then split into semi-precious stones, so I amassed a large collection of specimens during my childhood holidays from (mainly) the spoil heaps of old Cornish tin mines and trips to places abroad like Thunder Bay. You have some truly amazing fossils though, absolutely tremendous finds - although I bet those ammonites were a bugger to get through customs in your hand luggage!
I had a bad fossil day today.
Bid on several which took my fancy but in the end they went for too much that I wanted to pay. These were the ones I was looking at....

Oh well next time.............
I thought this was just going to be a list of all the members of dMw.
That's a shame as they are some very nice items. I agree the chair is man cave territory, I'm not sure it would sit well in your cottage :D
I dabbled in acquiring fossils last year when I was bored during lockdown. Sadly things got a bit out of hand and I made a somewhat inappropriate purchase.
Plus I've absolutely nowhere to put the damn thing in my end terrace.

Unlucky Pen, maybe you can use Rizzy for your fossilhunt, normally he finds free stuff... He's already found this group of fossils and is now 1 of them... :flirty:
Nice selection you were going after. Normally we like to go in to shops still and look for fossils, sometimes very nice ones for not alot of money
Auctions are normally better priced in general as you're buying from where the dealers buy. Hey ho.
I did think of you about this: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9469889/Jurassic-Coasts-biggest-rockfall-60-years-Fossil-hunters-warned-stay-away.html
Gotta be some great stuff in there to find!
(Ps. Daily Mail had the best write up !)
